Rags To Riches??
I'm a little concerned that she didn't show up on today's (Sunday) worktab. She has been on the two previous Sunday worktabs along with The Green Monkey. Anyone hear anything?? TJ
I'm not sure why she isn't listed, but according to the NYRA handicappers on their pre-race show on OTB, she worked in 1:04 and change, breezing. It seemes like Todd was pretty satisfied - I don't think Rags is the kind of filly that needs to be cranked up for workouts and she had a very similar kind of work prior to the Belmont. I suspect her last workout prior to the Oaks will be more along the lines of 1:01 and change, but she seems to be doing very well. She's got a blog on the NTRA website where people from the stable update Rags usually once or twice a week, so we may get more on her shortly.

Todd is quoted as saying that Rags just doesn't need to be worked hard to maintain her form. He doesn't want to do anything different than he did before the Belmont (where, prior to the race, she worked in 1:03 and change, also on a dead track). We can expect much the same type of work next week, maybe just a tad quicker, but the filly seems to be in great shape.
well, if she don't need it, she don't need to be doin' it TODAY, that's for damn sure.

I did when the power went out and it was too dark to mess with the pool. I spent too much time in the Bay, I just can't take this crap. I'm suddenly thinking Seattle would be a better choice than Austin.

We all know that Shug has POINTED all year to have Boca Grande win the CCAO. Pletcher ain't unbeatable - Pleasant Home swallowed Ashado alive in the BC Distaff, the race Pleasant Home was POINTED to. Everyone laughed at Shug when he entered her, but he got the trophy....and won by 9 lengths.

Rags to Riches, the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winning filly, breezed an easy five furlongs over Belmont Park’s main track Sunday morning in 1:04 1/5.
The Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith-owned filly will likely have one more breeze before she makes her next start in the $300,000 Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I) for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/4 miles on July 21.
Although the time of Rags to Riches’ work was slow under regular exercise rider Lauren Robson, the main track was relatively dead Sunday morning. None of the 31 workers shaded 1:00 1/5 for five furlongs.
“It was very good,” trainer Todd Pletcher said of the A. P. Indy filly’s work. “It was almost identical to what she did before the Belmont. She was nice and relaxed and galloped out real strong.”
Pletcher said the next work may go a little quicker, but not much quicker.
“Maybe a little bit, but she seems to run well off moderate works, so we’re not looking to change anything,” Pletcher said.
The prospect of facing one of only three fillies to win the Belmont Stakes and the first filly to win it in 102 years will likely scare off several other potential runners, especially at 10 furlongs. A small field seems likely, and that is fine with Pletcher.
“It doesn’t bother me as long as they use the race,” Pletcher joked. “I don’t mind a walkover, but I nominated enough horses to ensure they’d use the race.”

It pays to have a snarky smartass remark at the ready when tourists say something like that. It makes them leave earlier.
