he is a IC chef de race
Ack Ack (1966-1990) was an American Thoroughbred Hall of Fame racehorse. He raced with success at age two to four, scoring wins in the important 1969 Withers Stakes and Arlington Classic. In 1971 at age five, Ack Ack blossomed into the year's most dominant horse. Conditioned by Charlie Whittingham, Ack Ack won seven straight graded stakes races on both dirt and grass courses at a variety of distances. His performances earned him United States Horse of the Year honors.
Owned by Harry F. Guggenheim's Cain Hoy Stable, Ack Ack was sold by the executors of his estate following Guggenheim's death in January of 1971. New owner, E. E. "Buddy" Fogelson, husband of actress Greer Garson, retired the horse at the end of his most successful year to stand at stud at Claiborne Farm near Paris, Kentucky where he sired 40 stakes winners.

American Thoroughbred Review Notes
ACK ACK (1966, 581 foals, 55 SW, 2.35 AEI) - 1971’s Horse of the Year, Ack Ack seldom finds his way into discussions of genetic elites. Though he sired a steady stream of stakes horses during his days at Claiborne Farm, his male-line influence is unlikely to extend beyond Broad Brush, with the possible exception of Include, a multiple Grade 1 winner who’s first foals are being well received in the marketplace. Undoubtedly however, we will continue to see his name amongst superior runners here in the United States by way of his daughters (currently getting just under 10% SW from starters) and the daughters of Broad Brush.

There's a clip of him racing there, as well.

I would point out that Ack Ack is up close in the pedigree of the last known AMBIORIX (Byerly Turk) line stallion standing in US - FRENCH SEVENTYFIVE.
Pedigreewise I would love to see a decent Broad Brush mare or granddaughter get bred to this Sire before he's gone. My thinking along these lines is to try and inbreed to the ACK ACK blood in FRENCH SEVENTYFIVE's dam's side by a return of the stallion's broodmare sire's bloodlines in the mating through either the broodmare's sire or her sire's damline. This is a pattern I've recently seen several examples of where rather 'ordinary' TB mares (performance wise) with some back class producing a high level BT runners. [None of them utilizing the ACK ACK elements I might add] These have sometimes produced the first such high class individual from that mare's immediate female line in two or even three generations - something that we bred to race folks are always attempting to achieve it seems. The re-invigoration of a female family after a generation of hiatus from producing top runners. Of course you would want the two ACK ACK elements you are inbreeding to to be better than average individuals if at all possible. In other words not just any mare sired by Broad Brush (or another lesser ACK ACK sire son) would do but one that has that 'back class'/decent race productivity under her first three/four dams and - I'm really reaching for the stars now - hopefully one that has a history of a previous successful cross to the Ambiorix line somewhere in that 3-4 female family production history. There are actually more opportunities to make such matings than I would have thought from broodmares available in today's market at reasonable price.
I would also agree with the statement that Ack Ack in pedigree often adds a certain toughness. I remember seeing in a pedigree posting that this bloodline was considered one of the more influential sireline influences in N.A. racing pedigrees of the past century but one that was hanging on by a thread via Broad Brush's sons at stud as has been noted above. (I'm thinking it was either one of the old "Pedigree Post" articles or was one of the articles you can find links to at The American Thoroughbred Review site.) One of Broad Brush's sire sons stands in Oklahoma - Concern - and while not O/S as a sire of BT performers himself he might have produced a suitable daughter as described above to attempt with FRENCH SEVENTYFIVE. Another Broad Brush son, Broad And Locust is at stud in North Texas - the Panhandle - somewhere I think though it may be nearer to Midland/Odessa. Yet another potential source of mares with Broad Brush/Ack Ack close up in the pedigree. I think the latter's first crop are 2YOs or 3YOs now.

I am mainly trying to find more info on my mares pedigree. Ack Ack is her maternal grandsire. Mr Prospector is her grandsire on her sire's side. She is a tough girl herself. She used to be alot of horse to deal with attitude-wise but has since come around.
Thank you guys for finding so much info on Ack Ack!!
