Come to think of it, Pletcher hasn't exactly been a genius with this horse. I think lots of guys could still have him unraced.

Here's a "next theory" for you. How about TGM and Rags To Riches (who also missed her Sunday work as she needs to prep closer to the CCAO), work in company tomorrow? Just an off the wall shot :>) TJ

How about it? Rags To Riches worked in 1:04 last time - I think The Green Monkey could keep up with that. LOL!

Beside, I'd always work an unraced horse against a Belmont Stakes winner - wouldn't you? :roll:

I guess someone forgot to tell The Green Monkey that Pletcher is "Mr Organization" and not "Mr Achin' Butt."

Boca Grande? A horse(or filly in this case has) to at least break an 85 Beyers to compete in Graded stakes of any type. Suggest $50,000 optional claim NW2Xs and run her for the tag to get the weight off. Of course as poor as NY stakes have been in recent time ANY horse has a shot. Very weak, short fields this summer for the Graded NY races. Perhaps NYRA should consider optional claim Graded stakes races?

Clearly they're one and the same and Pletcher doesn't want us all to figure out his clever scheme.

I am waiting for the announcement that The Green Monkey has a fever just like Rags to Riches and will have to take the rest of the summer off. Then he will be retired since there will not be enough time to get him ready for the Breeders Cup Classic.

Guess what, the Green Monkey worked this AM. Breezing a 1/2 mile in :59.88, 3rd best of 19. Of particular note to you, Sightseeing had the bullet work, :59.01 breezing. I think I mentioned to you I thought that last 5/8ths (which he accomplished handily) took a wee bit out of TGM, probably why he backed off him last week--I'll bet he two minute licked some wind into him when he missed that breeze last Sunday. Gotta think he is on track for his Saratoga debut. TJ

It is a bit startling to see this colt actually seeming to move forward in his work pattern.

What is a little confusing to me is that Laywer Ron's 5F in 1.01:09 was listed as the fastest of 14 at Belmont today, while TGM's 59:88 at the same distance only came through as 3rd fastest of 19.

Edit: Nevermind. Ron worked on the training track and TGM on the main.

Of the few Pletcher horses I follow, I sometimes find it difficult to decipher their work patterns, because he will throw a few in on the training track. It seems to play slower than the main track, but I'm not sure just how much.

Generally, it seemt that when he is bringing a horse along or bringing it back, you will see some slow works at first, and eventually a nice blowout. TGM seems to be progressing steadily. His 4 works (roughly) have all been good times, much better than anything he was doing last year. I don't see a lot of those quick 3F tighteners, that some trainers use before a race, from Pletcher.
