Real Quiet's Progeny page

Postby msasl » Fri Jul 20, 2007 9:19 am

Real Quiet's progeny page used to be really long with all kinds of offspring listed, but now there's only a small handful of horses listed.

Is there a reason for this? Will his progeny page eventually have all the progeny once listed again?

It appears someone deleted them. Hopefully they will be re-entered shortly.

I sure hope so. I've been using their list of Real Quiet's offpsring for years to keep as close an eye as I can on his progeny.

I was just going to update my list when I noticed that there were only a handfull of horses left.

is there anyone with more information about why his progeny page has mostly disappeared?

there's a short list now, but it used to be scrolling ...

i just wondered if anyone who runs the site or is in charge can let me know if i should expect the page to sometime be what it used to, or if it's mostly gone for good.

thanks.

If they were deliberately deleted, you're SOL unless someone takes it upon themselves to run a progeny report and re-enter them. If it's a glitch, they MIGHT come back in the next update (which could be up to a month away), IF Miles is aware of the problem... but posting the problem here won't make him aware of it since I don't believe he bothers to read the board that often.

Just a note, the board moderator (Roguelet) has nothing to do with the database. To my knowledge, no one does beyond Lucy and a couple others who have the ability to lock horses. However, not even they can help with missing reports/system glitches. That's Miles' domain and getting anything from him is... not easy.

Not a glitch, I'm afraid. :(

I put back all I could find, but I don't have access to stallion progeny lists.

Which makes it yet another glaring example of why Miles needs to institute a login in policy, register IP addys to make changes to the database and actually have someone policing it/banning people for malicious tampering. I fail to see why people pay for special features when he doesn't do anything to ensure that the data is even marginally protected.

During August you can get three #365 progeny reports (all foals w/ start-by-start rcds.) free from Brisnet. You have to be a registered member, but that's always free.

By the way, if anyone else does Real Quiet, PM me. I have a few other stallions that need similar attention, and I'd like to use the samples wisely. :D

I just pulled Proud Citizen's '05 crop... give me about 3 hours and the only thing listed for him will be the 2yos (I hate having yearlings and weanies in there since so many of them have name changes before their debut).

I'm still debating who I'm burning my other ones on 8)

Okay, I'm going to do Proud Citizen, Posse and Vindication. This time tomorrow, they should all have only their 2005 crops in the system.

If anyone wants to run another group of three first crop sires but doesn't have the time to put them in the system, let me know and I'll do them for you. It would be cool if we could get 10-15 people to work down the current first crop sires list and get them all in.

I'm going to go put a post in the General Section and see if I can't recruit a few others to help.

The 365 gives you all the horses that have started with a race by race breakdown for a specific time frame. If you run that for more than a years total, the file is HUGE (I just ran a Kris S. update last night for a 4 year period.... it's about 60 pages)

The 320 will give you all the foals for a specific crop (IOW, all foals born in 2005) whether they've started or not.
