Where on EARTH is flying first class? No workouts... no updates... no retirement.. no nothing. He might be a police pony for all I know.

it's a shame too.. I think. honestly... he's a world class calibur SPRINTER.. and because Lukas is so derranged in trying to make anything that can run a 2 minute lick in well..2 mintues a derby horse.. and they never show in preps.. you get him at a GREAT price

I have been wondering the same thing. No workout reports from Equibase.
Even though he got beat bad in the Preakness I love how speedy this horse is.
Been wondering about Pegasus Wind too - anyone with info I would VERY much apprecite a PM!

Judging by his getting that sales topping quarter million dollar filly recently, maybe he said 'ah screw it' and left the rest of the string in the pasture for the rest of the summer so he could wipe the slate clean. If Lukas can't get to the mountain, I guess Lukas is bringing the mountain to him and buying the horse himself.

I despise lukas's training methods.

BUT.

One thing I will never, EVER knock the man for, is his ability to spot a runner. That.. not his training methods, got him where he is today.

He takes 99% of the trainers to school when it comes to sales, spotting yearlings that can run.. Espically for some reason, fillies. He spotted Winning Colors, Serena's Song and Sharp Cat all at yearling sales. the list is vast.. but the man is very, very talanted when it comes to that

let me stop before you think I am actually starting to like Lukas.

Yeah I'm definitely keeping an eye on that filly. She's by Storm Cat out of a full sister to Fusaichi Pegasus. I'm sure Godolphin was annoyed that she had Coolmore connections. Lukas likes the "ladies" for sure. Here's the blurb from Bloodhorse on his two big purchases:
http://www.bloodhorse.com/articleindex/ ... p?id=40118
Trainer D. Wayne Lukas paid the second day’s next-highest sale price ($875,000) for a Storm Cat filly produced from the Mr. Prospector mare Blissful. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Commonwealth. Blissful had been purchased by Coolmore Stud’s John Magnier for $4 million from the Denali Stud consignment (as agent for Bob and Beverly Lewis) in the 2000 Keeneland November mixed sale.

Lukas said he would train the filly, as well as an Awesome Again colt he purchased for $750,000, on behalf of a group he is putting together to race in partnership.

Consigned by Eaton Sales, the colt was produced from the grade II-winning Victory Gallop mare Victory U.S.A.

On a side note it would've been fun for West Point Thoroughbreds to've gotten the sales topper. Kinda neat that it was two partnership groups that were battling on that bidding.

If I were a big time player.. which I'm not.... and I were at the sales.. which I'm not.. I would watch lukas like a hawk

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Satish Sanan went through MILLIONS at the sales with Lukas and wound up with a bucket of shit for his $67 Million in three years - like spending $4.4 Million for Colonial Boy. He couldn't wait to get away from Lukas!

You think Lukas picked out all those horses without spotters like Clyde Rice working for him?

Rice grabbed Lukas out of the Keeneland cafeteria to bid on Life's Magic. Geesh!

so you are telling me that Clyde Rice is responsable for Lukas's keen eye of horses.

Lukas was the pioneer of confirmation, looking at how horses worked, etc. before him everyone just went off black type.

I hate him too Rok.. I know it's hard.. but you have to tip your hat every once in a while

See above...Sanan (Padua Stable) would stick an ax in Lukas's head if he could.

Speaking of Life's Magic, just saw that she died today at age 26 "peacefully." What a mare!
