Ideas for my girls next date?
Please help me narrow the harrowing search. I'm in KY, Lexington area.
1) Lovacious, by Precise End o/o Sheza Valentine (winner of $321k)
2) Marty's Joia, by Louis Quatorze o/o Sarah Too, by El Gran Senor (p.s. on this one, she's grey and I really really want a grey foal)
I'm just starting to think of ideas and need help narrowing the choices here.
P.S. in the $5k-$10k range, why don't any farms offer incentives or free breedings to new sires, like in CA? Maybe because no one boards the mare at the farm anymore, like in CA? (i.e. their still getting the boarding day rate fee, etc?)

dates
Kimberley Mine,
Thanks...little did you know I have a Najran colt (he's about 3 months old) and I just LOVE him!!!
I also like Pioneering and Cape, both. They say Pioneering is one of the best deals around w/good chances to throw runners. Thanks for your advice.

What about the girls?
I'm not sure about Cape Canaveral, but do you have any matings ideas for the ladies?
I just had a fellow say, hands down, I should breed Marty to Ten Pins or Curlin. I didn't even know Curlin had retired yet!!!
He said (and I quote) "NO FOAL BORN YET is better genetically suited to the polytrack than the Ten Pins-Marty's Joia cross" and he said "the future of the Ashland/Bluegrass Stakes hangs in the balance!" Isn't that something...!
I believe he also mentioned that I was sitting a genetic powder keg..all so very interesting!

One reason might be because Kentucky's Breeder's Incentive Program does not offer stallion awards. So if you breed to a KY stallion all the stallion owner gets is the fee you pay. Many of the stallions in Lexington are NOT owned by the farms that stand them. The stallion owner PAYS for the farm to stand the horse. No free lunch and no free stallions. No stud fee, no income. Nothing, nada, zip. Regarding the boarding/day rate, that would go to the farm, not the stallion owner.
Regarding your mares, Service Stripe offers an interesting cross for Lovacious and with Marty's Joia, I would look at a Phone Trick horse like Zavata to double up Shenanigans.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Hi
Good suggestions by all. I particularly like Maven's idea of Gilded Time. Another that I think looks good for Marty's Joia is Seattle Fitz. I have a client that has a Seattle Fitz weanling that is a real looker.

You can also try to double up Shenanigans thru Wild Again stallions such as Milwaukee Brew or Offlee Wild.

Kentuckt Gntleman X Lovacious would give you a 3S X 4D to Flying Pastor.
Also, take a look at Kentucky Gentleman's stallion page:
"Storm Cat's fastest son, 6 furlongs in 1:07 4/5
Also had a 2 YO in training set the worlds record for a quarter maiel in 20/1 seconds. at the Kee 2 YO in training sale.
KG's 2 YO also have a nice average and median sales price.

Yep! Sorry for the misinformation . I suspect my Southern up bringing objected to putting Yankee and Gentleman together.
He seems to throw good conformation and speed. My line-bred Somethingroyal mare, Perfect Colours, is in foal to him for March 2008. One cover and she was in foal and that was after hauling her from Maryland to Lexington.

Dates for the girls...
Griff, thanks for the YG suggestion. Went to see him in person last season, as he was one of my top picks for another mare I have. I will really think about this one!
Maven-I'm a Gilded Time fan, also-off the top of my head, I believe he's the daddy of Fruition, who I liked and had high hopes for, back in my CA days...
Playwithfire/Madelyn,
I like the doubling up on Shenanigans idea, and especially like Zavata, Offlee Wild and MB. (I'll have to look up to see how the babies have sold) Have you seen MB in person? Any feeling one way or the other?
One other thought that gets a little higher than I'd planned: Pleasant Tap for Marty's Joia? Any thoughts on that cross? My girlfriend thinks it's a great cross w/interesting possibilities...me too, anyone else?
Hi Tb dreaming and everybody on that forum, I’ve been reading it for awhile and found interesting and useful. I own a 5 yo mare by Fruition, he is actually by Woodman, I am new in the TB racing she is my first one and unfortunately she got hurt in her first race at HP a couple of months ago so we decided to bring her home and breed her, although the trainer suggested to bring her back after some time off. Any suggestions about a stallion in CA will be appreciated. By the way I think Fruition is a good sire, just checked his stats he is currently 46th by money from only 30 runners with 25 wins. A good deal for 2000$ I think
