In fact the m.p. gave him to our own trainer and told him he could sell the horse, and the Nebraska trainer bid a little higher. So our trainer pocketed the money and it didn't ever go into the partnership account.

My equivalent of telling the m.p. to go sit on a cactus after he sent the cash call was what prompted all those insults you were quoting.

I see! Well stick to your guns. If the MP wants the money he can beat it out of the trainer.

Gear It Up is going to be a grand looker when he settles in!

Thank you everyone. Thank you Marli and all the rescue people for all the work you do. Congratulations on your latest saved equine. I was so excited to get him home that I forgot to thank all the members of the pedigree query forum, and there are many, many of you who gave abundantly of advice, and offered support of many kinds both in open forum and in pm's. I particularly apologize to people who offered phone numbers and whom I did not call. I'm very shy about phoning in general and all the events of the past few weeks have forced me to use the phone a lot more than I'm comfortable with. My phone anxiety is sky high right now!

Roguelet, if you ever get really tired of moderating this board, and I know it's been a lot of work lately, remember this story, because it literally would not have happened the way it did without the wonderful people who contribute here. And I'm sure there have been many similar positive happenings that board members have collectively brought about over the years.

I went to see Jura today and there wasn't anyone else around. I went into his paddock with a lead rope and he walked right up to me and let me catch him and I led him around the paddock for a few rounds. I think he enjoyed it because there are quite a lot of flies right now and he got a little relief from them. I've never caught a horse before! Aren't you all proud of me? (actually it was all him, but hey, I'll take the credit!).

Geo, I haven't visited here in a while and I was delighted to find this thread and learn that Gear It Up is now safe and in your care. I was hoping the fact that I hadn't gotten any races or workouts on him recently was cause for celebration. SO I have now officially removed him from my Virtual Stable!

Congrats on getting your boy back!!!!!!!!

And everybody should know that the good people of Canter Ohio, Nancy and Chris and their River Downs contact Becky, were very helpful in tracking Gear It Up down when we thought he had been sent to that state.

Pretty Horse! BTW, it looks like his halter is "going" on the left side noseband. It might be wise to pick up a cheapie $5-7 nylon halter in case the leather one gives out.

Whoa! Good eye, Madelyn!

He's a very handsome boy, Geo! I like him a lot. A few groceries and some consistant quality time with the grooming kit, and he's going to really bloom!

Best of luck with him!

He sure boogered his head up somehow. Geo, about the halter, don't turn him out in a nylon halter. They won't break if he gets hung up on something.
His ankles don't look that bad to me, judging from that one shot. Maybe you were getting BeeEssed on that. Let us know what the vet says.

He is lovely!

What a lucky boy to have such a determined, committed and loving owner....and all the supportive, caring people who helped get him home to you. All the best to you and Gear It Up!

If you need a halter on him when he's turned out (some do at first) you can get nylon halters with a breakable crown piece.

We've discovered that he's very laid back as far as being caught is concerned, so we've taken the halter off. Thanks for the all the halter advice, people.

The boarding facility is dominated by western pleasure horses, mainly quarter horses, and everyone has been surprised by Jura's engaging personality and laid back temperament. He's getting a lot of love and attention. I went there to do some grooming (his coat isn't in very good condition) and he thought it was bliss - lower lip stuck out, eyes closed. He just loves that soft brush.

Good for you, geo! The timing is interesting.. Isla gone and now you have Jura. BTW you could pick up a bag of Calf Manna and feed handfuls as a treat for his coat and general health.

Just for a treat, Madelyn? You wouldn't mix it in his feed?

He is fed by the owners of the location where he is boarded... that way Geo could control it.

Nice boy - I look forward to seeing him filled out. :)

If you can't find Calf Manna, try Ultimate Finish.
