hi guys
Is Majestic Warrior (by A.P. Indy) a stallion prospect extraordinaire, or what?
Think about it...an A.P. Indy that won the G1-Hopeful, and probably has the G1-BC Juvenile in his sights. A colt whose accomplishment, running style, and family tree suggest (to me anyway) that his connections are likely dreaming about a two-year-old and/or a three-year-old championship...and the classics in 2008.
An A.P. Indy son whose...
1st dam Dream Supreme (by Seeking the Gold) won the G1-Test and the G1-Ballerina (among her illustrious racing accomplishments) while in the process of running up a bankroll in excess of $1mil.
2nd dam Spinning Round (by Dixieland Band) won the G1-Ballerina, and in excess of $600,000, among her 31 starts (during her impressive racing career).
3rd dam Take Heart (by Secretariat), is a 2-time winner.
Majestic Warrior (by A.P. Indy) likely has a potentially very exciting future at the races mapped-out for him...but, it seems to me that he is already a stallion prospect extraordinaire.
A couple of questions...what's he look like (in the flesh), and what else might he accomplish? Anyone seen him up-close and personal?
If he's sound and looks the part, I can only imagine what it might take to get Majestic Warrior away from The Boss....hmmm.
Thoughts?
Respectfully
Majestic Warrior...is he a stallion prospect extraordinaire

i was thinking the same thing earlier, however I try to stay away from the S word until they at the very least hit 3.. you can't preach how you want horses to stay around longer and the first thing you think about when you see a Grade 1 win is what is their stud fee going to be.
anyway, I mean there really isn't much else to say. like you said maybe soundness or unsoundness issues, but I'm sure when he had the dam and knew he had a runner in her... he had to know it was just a matter of time. This dam with AP Indy was a match made in heaven.
I bet Darley is on the phone with him now.
I dont' think he has to do anything else to be honest.. he's proven he can run and he's from a top flight female family that passes on genes.
I dont' even want to think of what his stud fee is going to be

hi bdw0617
I sense that Majestic Warrior is a colt/stallion prospect that EVERY stallion facility (with the financial wherewithal) in North America could find VERY appealing.
Darley has obviously been extremely aggressive recently (as we've seen) when it comes to making moves on, and closing deals on top stallion prospects.
Darley's recent actions might force the hands of some others to move (on stallion prospects) earlier than they might otherwise prefer to, if they want to compete for the most appealing and TOP stallion prospects.
That said...I could see Steinbrenner getting some VERY serious calls from a number of VERY serious players that don't want to be shut out again...by an aggressive Darley willing to pay a premium for whatever stallion prospect they want.
Best.

Darley is changing the game, you are correct about that. The days of winning 2-3 Grade 1's, retiring and then going around to see who can give you the highest amount for your prized stallion are OVER.
it's going to get so bad, I can see it now... 10 years from now the Kentucky Derby 80% of all the runners are owned by stallion farms.
but what can you do? If I have paid upwards of 400k in all for a colt over 2 years, and I get a call saying I'll give you say, 30 million dollars for 80% of this colt right now... my gosh that's not a very hard decision to make.
the thing I like about his (the colts) pedigree is that it has the perfect blend of everything and anything you add on the dam side is a highlight certain points of majestic warrior's pedigree.

My only question: Why did he bring only $300,000 at the sales?
This colt was just getting warmed up today after 7 furlongs. Bill Mott must be having nightmares - he has a possible Derby horse. Break the Hopeful curse?
Steinbrenner might consider trading Majestic Warrior for some starting pitchers that are under 40 years old. LOL!

LMAO!!!!
I can see that phone call now
Darley: 50 million for the colt
George: Tell you what.. make it 10 million, and find a way to get me dontrell willis and Barry Zito, and you have a deal
seriously... dude I don't think he was a sale baby.. sure you got the right horse?
I'm pretty darn sure he was a home bred, unless he bred the horse, sold it to a pinhooker and bought it back. he owns the dam

Hmm, and where did you get this from? lol
Actually, as much as I like the colt on the track (I broke down why I like him in the Hopeful thread yesterday), in the shed I have some hesitations.
First off, his first two dams were serious racehorses but the female line has always been bred very well for 5 or 6 generations and have never produced a stallion of note. That worries me. It's obvious not the end all and i'm not saying they cant, but I like to see some productivity with sons in the shed.
If there's one stallion people should watch very closely before this one goes to stud it's Jump Start. Although the sirelines on the bottom are flipped, the pedigree structure is almost identical in the first 5 gens.
And as I was saying, with Indy's, it's all about pedigree structure on the track and I have an inkling it will be the same in the shed.
Don't be so humble - you are not that great.

Maybe Steinbrenner bought the horse back RNA?
Majestic Warrior is a Kinsman homebred. He has never been offered at auction.

well looking a little harder, I dont' think that's a problem at all. however when looking into it, it brings up another problem, which is that alot of the female families offspring don't make it to the track. and when they do, for whatever the reason may be, they are female. CHIEF STEWARD is really the only HORSE of NOTE.
however one thing that is very obvious is that the family passes on traits. I've seen a hell of alot worse families.
