Maven, you are getting some pub...

Based on her Eclipse Award-winning juvenile campaign and her recent Virginia Oaks victory at Colonial Downs, Frank Calabrese’s Dreaming of Anna appears to be the top Pucker Up (gr. IIIT) choice for its Sept. 8 renewal at Arlington Park.

The daughter of Rahy is a full sister to Calabrese’s Lewis Michael, winner of the Washington Park Handicap (gr. II) July 28.

Dreaming of Anna's impressive 2-year-old season was highlighted by a score in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) at Churchill Downs last fall. Trained by Wayne Catalano, she boasts a record of 6-1-1 from nine starts and earnings of more than $1.4 million.

Lemonlime, another Pucker Up contender, finished sixth behind Dreaming of Anna in her last start in the $200,000 Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs July 21, and third behind the same filly in the June 2 Double Delta at Arlington. Still, trainer Tony Granitz remains undeterred.

“She got stopped on both turns in the Virginia Oaks, or she might have been right there,” said Granitz. “In the (Double Delta) she got down on the inside, and by the time she got out, the race was over, but Eddie (jockey Razo) told me she was full of run.”

Owned by Richard Shultz, Lemonlime breezed over Arlington’s grass course Sept. 1 in preparation for the Pucker Up, getting a half in :48.

“She breezed good and she cooled out real good,” said Granitz. “We wanted to run her in that prep for the Pucker Up (the Hatoof), but didn’t get to when they took the race off the turf.”

WinStar Farm's West Coast Swing, who also breezed over Arlington's “good” ground Sept. 1, is undefeated in two starts, both over the track's Polytrack surface.

“I thought (the breeze) went fine,” said trainer Shannon Ritter of her filly covering the five-eighths distance in 1:00 in her first encounter with turf. “The time was fast, especially since the rider told me there was a lot of give in the ground.”

French-bred Touch My Soul, a sophomore filly considered for the Aug. 11 Beverly D. Stakes (gr. I) at Arlington Park for much of the summer, was instead shipped from her home base in Germany to contest the nine-furlong Pucker Up.

Although recently purchased by Team Valor Stable and Ed Weil from Gestut Brummerhof, Touch My Soul remains in the care of German conditioner Peter Schiergen.

Touch My Soul won Germany’s group III Hamburger Stuten-Preis at eight furlongs June 30 under Andreas Suborics, who rode Silvano to his Arlington Million (gr. IT) victory in 2001. However, she was most recently unplaced in Deauville’s group III Prix de Psyche July 31 when asked to go 10 furlongs.

The Pucker Up has often attracted European invaders and has been won by European-breds for two of its last three renewals.

Rounding out the field are Luna Dorada, Testama, Our Dancing Babe, Ciao, Bel Air Beauty, You Go West Girl, Ric Rac, Katerbug, and Pitamakan.

I meant the filly.. which I happen to think (unless told otherwise) has a GREAT shot in the stakes.

haha She races in my uncle's silks as you all know. I'll have to put my story on trying to make my own silks this past week in the OT forum. I was telling Tuc about it last night. lol.

Anyway, I told Rok she was pointing for this race and although I think it's a major step up and she'd be better suited for 10f, I think she has to be looked at as dangerous. I cant begin to tell you how GREEN this filly is. She still runs like she has no idea whats going on.

For all you bettors out there, there's a Danzig filly in the Pucker Up that people at Arlington are calling a monster. True or not I have no idea but something to keep in mind.

I can't wait until you get your colors, Maven - I've seen a lot of things on racing silks, but I've never seen a bottle of peroxide. LOL!

A blond lost her job. To make ends meet, she went knocking door to door offering to do odd jobs.

She knocked on one door down the block, and the man that lived there said, "OK. I'll give you $50 if you paint my porch." She said, "Sure!" He then gave her three cans of white paint and a brush and said, "Ring the front bell when you're done."

Five minutes later, she rang the bell. Amazed, the man said, "Wow! You're fast!"

She said, "It was an easy job - and I only needed two cans." He said, "You're so effecient - how do you do it?"

She said, "Oh, anyone could have done it. And, mister...you don't own a porch. You own a Lexus!"

Ah, another member of the club! I LOVE blonde jokes, by the way.

Yay! About time! There's only a true few of us! And I happen to enjoy blond jokes too... almost as much as jokes about Rok!

I am a natural blonde. Sometimes I behave like one  . Maven, I am so hoping your Lemonline gets over her "greenies" and runs some monster races. Good Luck!

i just looked at all her video replays.. that's what qualifies as a monster these days? your filly is better. trust me.

heads up.. Rene Douglas is the regular rider for Pitamaken and Dreaming of Anna.. and dropped BOTH to ride the invader from france

now... he could have had a jockey switch on dreamming of anna as ET rode her in the race you were in... but needless to say, that filly from france, touch my soul, and at a 9/2 line.. that's the filly I would be watching out for.

Pitamaken is going to tire in the last 16th after being pressed in a real stakes race.. she has been given soft fractions in both her last two, really her last 3 races, and if the last race was 100 yards longer she was toast. she's good but she's not THAT good. Dreaming of anna is better. and can very well win it

anyway... you can't BUY a break can you? Everywhere you go you have to run into Dreamming of Anna
