Darley buys half of new approach

Postby bdw0617 » Mon Sep 03, 2007 8:37 pm

Darley purchases 50% interest in Group 2 winner New Approach

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum’s Darley has purchased a 50% interest in Group 2 winner New Approach, a two-year-old colt who is unbeaten in three career starts.

Jim Bolger will continue to train New Approach, the winner of the Galileo E.B.F. Futurity Stakes (Ire-G2) on August 25 at the Curragh. Jackie Bolger, the trainer’s wife, will retain a 50% interest in the Galileo (Ire) colt out of English and Irish champion Park Express (Ire), by Ahonoora.

“We are delighted to have purchased a half-share in New Approach,” said John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed’s bloodstock advisor. “He is one of the outstanding two-year-olds of 2007 who has the scope, pedigree, and quality to go on to be a top prospect for the classics next year.”

New Approach earned a two-length victory in his racing debut on July 15 at the Curragh. The chestnut colt won the Tyros Stakes (G3) on July 28 at Leopardstown prior to capturing the Galileo E.B.F. Futurity.

I posted it here in this section because it seems to be that Darley has thrown the whole coolmore ban out the window. Not only are they buying every stud prospect in sight, it's like they are trying to replicate coolmores line of studs with some of the overseas purchases they have recently made.

I think Darley are really just buying everything they can aren't they? there's a new one every week, I've never seen anything like it.

This New Approach is something pretty special. Lets hope he doesn't go the way of Teofilo.

I'm suprised they haven't gotten their hands on Curlin yet.

I really think we should be changing our approach to these posts. How about a thread something like 'Darley doesn't buy ....... stallion'.
