Pretty much? They're full siblings. It's exactly the same. And she was an exceptional looking filly. I really liked her. She was the best of the Storm Cat fillies.

There was a few Unbridled's Songs who looked good.

Some of these yearlings looked HUGE.

Longest day ever. Spent most the time outside of the pavilion. This sale is just lacking the excitement of year's past.

People are saying the numbers are down, but other than not real huge prices on top, the horses are selling pretty damn well.

I'd say if you took out the ridiculous priced ones of the last few years, the averages would be right around the same.

Oh, and got out bid on 4 fillies. Came home with a big, fat ZERO.

mr. s looked great as well did he not? As did Jalil

AS far as unbridled song, he's growing on me as a great sire. you see the sales topper today? my gosh. I liked the Dynaformer a little more considering, but still.

get em tomorow maven

lol, if you want "excitement", go to six flags. it's a sad day when you have to see 10 million dollar bidding wars for excitment. you go to find value and buy good stock for the upcoming year. I'm having a hell of a time watching online.

what do you think of pleasantly perfect so far? I fell in love with the HIP he had yesterday in the sales ring, and if any indications are so far, his offspring might not take as long to develop as his sires.

It looks like the sale topper is going to be the $3.7 million Unbridled's Song colt out of Secret Status.

Godolphin bought a Storm Cat out of Secret Status for $6.3 million a couple of years ago but he is still unraced and he's now three. And I don't think Godolphin thinks their $6.3 million Storm Cat out of Secret Status is on the verge of stardom either, since they weren't even the underbidder on this one who went to Coolmore.

The first foal out of Secret Status, now four and I think retired from racing, did race and win though. She won a Maiden race at FINGER LAKES and had lifetime earnings of a little over $17,000.

I don't think any of the Maktoum entities bought a single Storm Cat out of book one so maybe there is a learning curve from having bought the likes of Jalil and this $6.3 million Storm Cat out of Secret Status they bought a couple of years ago.

Sorry you got shut out Maven. Better luck tomorrow!

We got a filly yesterday, so we're finished shopping. Now we just have a filly to sell on Thursday.

I totally agree with you about the numbers. Today's median was UP 10%. No high, high sales on top but a very strong middle market. I can't see what all the complaints are about.

I'm wondering if AP Indy's $300K fee will jump next year...he's certainly worth every penny of it.

Do you mean the sire? Or the filly? Both of them are lovely. :)

The Vindications are selling well. You shouldn't have a problem getting a few people tugging at the bit to get her. I think she was looked at by David and I know he had only praise for the Vin fillies on the list.

I looked at just how badly the Sheikhs - Godolphin (Darley) and Shadwell have done with their Storm Cat's from the 2005 Keeneland September Sale and it is now clear why they might be staying away from Storm Cat's this year.

These horses are now age three (so while they may yet do something, let's face it with the kind of money they spent they were looking for horses who'd be players in the 3yo classics either here or in Europe) and among them there are no stakes winners and only two winners of any kind (each with one win and neither of those seems on the verge of competing with stakes company).

And look what they spent for them:

9.7 storm cat - tranquility lake
6.3 storm cat - secret status
3.5 storm cat - serena's song
3.1 storm cat - serena's tune
3.0 storm cat - ajina
1.1 strom cat - onaga

That's a total of $26.7 million!

For just under $17.3 million they could have bought all 972 yearlings who sold at the OBS August yearling sale that year and from those they'd have 16 stakes winners to date (4 of them graded) including the likes of Black Seventeen, EZ Warrior, Xchanger, and Birdbirdistheword.

I heard something interesting today about the Dubai boys and Storm Cat but i'll wait to say something until I can verify it.
