It was reported that the Champagne will be his next race.

I don't know about here in the States, but I know overseas the breeding farms have catalogues of pedigrees of every up and coming colt that is registered. Any interest they see in the pedigree translates into early dibs at stud deals.
All men are equal on the turf - or under it.

As you know, Team Majestic Warrior now includes some new members as a result of Coolmore's half-interest purchase in the colt. Although I'm not aware of the price/terms being reported...it's probably fair to suggest that the number might be described as HUGE.

As you know...and as trainer Bill Mott has apparently confirmed (per a ThoroughbredTimes.com article), "...Majestic Warrior would probably make his next start in the Champagne Stakes (G1) on October 6 at Belmont Park." Probably? Hmmm.....

Probably or not...one thing's for sure, Majestic Warrior is in excellent hands with Bill Mott...and I look forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

If Majestic Warrior wins the G1-Champagne...he'd arguably be THE Top contender for championship honors (going into the G1-BC Juvenile);and, as a two-time G1 winner, MW could possibly (depending how things shake-out for other contenders) still receive the eclipse...even if he doesn't win the Juvenile.

On he flip side, if he doesn't win the G1-Champagne...the G1-BC Juvenile would be (the way I see it) a MUST win, in order for Majestic Warrior to garner championship honors.

Thoughts?

Thoughts? When this horse gets hurt, don't blame Bill Mott. Between George Steinbrenner and Coolmore, I don't expect Majestic Warrior to live to see three.

1. A Grade 1 winning AP 2YO AP Indy Colt? I think he can retire now and stand for more than half of the KY stallions. Honestly. We need another "AP" Fix.

2. what is the goal of the colt? If it's to stand for the most absurd amount of money possible, the Champagne is of little consequence.. he needs to pull a STreet Sense. Juve/Derby

3. I don't think you've seen the best colts yet. October is always the key month to see the feature stars, we are just so hard up for our 2YO fix that we will key anything.. this colt is very good, but I'm holding out on giving him the roses just yet.

He's certainly the "it" horse right now... but there's always room for a two year old to come out of nowhere.

To me, with the weight of the BC, the Juvie is a MUST win for Championship honors regardless of records of it's losers.

If he loses, it's going to be spun as he got beat by an "improving" colt in the race that most matters, whether its true or not.

Bill Mott does NOT crank up his two year olds. He probably has hives thinking about the BC Juvie....or he's wishing that he could run the horse in the BC Turf Juvie.

speaking of BC Juve Turf, I'm getting chills thinking of the underlay I'm going to get on Big Brown

Big Brown was bred to be a filly... no doubt in my mind after looking at the pedigree structure. Too bad he's not. Be an interesting broodmare prospect.

Bill Mott has some nice, nice juvenile turf stock - even Kent Desormeaux couldn't lose with them. I'm not sure that Big Brown is the best that's run so far.

Fair enough...but obviously some eclipse voters don't consider the BC Juvenile a MUST-win when selecting a 2-year-old champion...after all, in 2004, they awarded the eclipse to Declan's Moon...not to that year's G1-BC Juvenile winner Wilko.

Best.

Exception to any rule, although Wilko only had ONE placing stateside before winning the Juvenile. Obviously, his record was extremely poor, with any other placings of note in Europe.

Um...you would have given it to Is It True over Easy Goer? The voters got it right in 1988! :D
