Stallion Confirmation - Sky Classic - Powerscourt - Flaws?

Could anyone advise me on their opinion of Sky Classic's confirmation - positives or negatives and what he typicaly passes on, good or bad? Not sure as I am not very versed in traits that get passed on?

Also - how about Powerscourt? Thanks

Sky Classic is very nice, one of the better looking stallions I have seen (but then again, I am biased.) I never saw many of his foals, Pin Oak doesn't breed their mares to him anymore. I know that he is rather flighty, still spooks on his way out to his paddock nearly every day. He was one of the reasons they got a horse walker. He was just too tough to ride and it was too much of a liability to have him ridden.

I worked with one of his son's, Daylight Savings, and he was an absolutely fabulous horse to work with. He was a carbon copy of his sire, but without the flighty attitude.

Both stallions are on the smallish side.

Thanks for the info - when speaking to Pin Oak - they say Sky is 16. 1.

My Mare is somewhat smaller too - was hoping to get some size in the 16.1? How about the trits they typically pass on - small as well? Sometimes I see alot of comments about knees, un soundness, etc. Any input there?

Seems like sky if he throws smaller would be better with 2 yr olds? Not sure if that makes sense?

Sky Classic is average height, by no means is he on the smallish side

Another thing about Sky Classic, is he throws lighter framed and lighter boned, kind of refined horses.

Well, from what I have seen and know, a lot more often he throws a lighter boned, lighter framed horse. Not that he doesn't EVER throw a bigger horse, but could Daylight Savings size have been from the dam's side? I always thought of Sky Classic as more of a refined type horse and a lot of his offspring being that way, as well. I would be careful what type of mare I sent his way.

Going with the Sky Classic theme - here is a question:

His sire was a 2yr old champion (one of the tops I guess) and he has no less than 4 or 5 two year old champs (candaian) on the dam side. Why do you suppose he doesn't do well with 2 yrs olds? What do you suppose effects that? Seems like it would be reversed?

In 2000, he was at the top of the 2 year old sire ranks, so he can throw nice 2 year olds. Breeders don't go to Sky Classic looking for fast 2 year olds, but that's not saying he can't get you one being bred to the right mare.

Thanks Intrinsic Worth! Seems like you know him (Sky) pretty well and I have a few more questions - hope you don't mind........

How do you think he matches up with Heed Her Call (2000 Cherokee Run)?

Even when I try to change my mind - Sky keeps making sense due to his race record, female side, and production success.

Or are there others you would suggest? Powerscourt really plays on the inbreeding of Thong 5x4, and Blushing Groom 4x4 - but I'm not sure that overcomes the Sky positives? Thanks for the advice.
