thank god for the BC Juve Turf

Postby bdw0617 » Sun Sep 30, 2007 1:57 am

it will be more interesting now that we have horses that belong on grass, can stay on grass, with something meaningful to shoot for.

It's shaping up to be somewhat interesting of a race. The leopard is a different animal (no pun intended) on the turf.. I still think Big Brown is the best 2YO turfer in the country.

Persian (sp) is a very good one as well

Bill Mott can win the race with any number of horses. Did you follow his turf babies at Saratoga?

Actually, I HATE the BC Turf Juvie. Turfers are fun to follow because they develop late and last from season to season. How does cranking up a baby to win the Turf BC Juvie help turf racing? So that it can become like dirt racing and have its Juvie entrants disappear?

Before Street Sense, Sea Hero was the last BC Juvie entrant to win the KY Derby. Do you want to go 15 years in between a BC Turf Juvie entrant winning the Sword Dancer, Kelso, or Arlington Million?

For the sake of argument Rok, (and when it comes to a "war" of words, you'll win), since they won't be gunning for the TC, they may last a lot longer. We may not have to wait, it may be more competitive than ever.

I can name plenty of top Euro two year old turfers that were kaput when they reached three. I really don't want the same happening here.

Oh good God... and how many have gone on to be champions at 3 and after? Grow up instead of wide.

Ok...question for everyone.

Who gets the 2 year old Champion nod....the turf winner or dirt? We all know it comes down to the BC race for 2 Year Old Championship honors.

Now what???? Will the turf 2 year old be forced to race on dirt or polytrack?? We all know the dirt horses always hold court with voters.

Should be interesting....

Yes, I'd like 100 more. And then I'd like you to name 100 on dirt. And while you're at it, the names of the seven dwarfs and any good qualities you may possess. Thanks.

Dirt. As it stands, the turf is ungraded. Even if it gets G1 status, how many graded winners on the dirt (the majority of juvie graded races) are going to opt to run on the turf instead of the dirt on BC day?

In other words, I dont see the turf runners going in having as much of a resume as the dirt entrants... which will still give them the advantage in Eclipse voting.

3 or 4 graded races... as opposed to how many on the turf?

3 or 4 Graded races? How many have run in that many that are likely to run 1 1/16th mile? As of now - Majestic Warrior 1, Tale of Etaki 1.....

Will Ready's Image run in the Juvie? I suppose so...Chapel Royal did.

Not the point... there are 3 or 4 (your count) graded races available to two year olds on the dirt to pad a resume before going into the BCJ. How many graded races on the turf are there for two year olds?

You were writing about resumes, not how many Graded races are available. Beside, how many of those Graded dirt races are at under a mile? 90% of them? 1 1/16th mile is a different ballgame. At least the turfers have run the distance.

Why are synthetic stakes Graded, anyway? Do you think that Dixie Chatter is a serious BC Juvie candidate? A cushion lover at Monmouth Park...
