Now look who is laughing...

I told you back in I think July... Tiago was going to be a monster by the end of the year.

"ha ha ha ha ha"

well.. did anyone catch the goodwood today?

not only did he win.. which I knew he would. Didn't expect Awesome Gem to be that good of a horse though.. he's a runner.. He did it in a ho hum 1:46 and 4. That my friends.. is race horse time. and from I can tell, it was a legit time as the two horses were a good 5 lenghts ahead of anyone else.

So... right now he's my classic horse. and the sad part is.. that was on a cushion track.. I doubt he's better on cushion than he is on dirt.

What a sad group of older horses he beat - it really diminishes Lava Man's accomplishments when you consider that Tiago can beat his chief rivals.

In this case, I don't c are how he beat.. he did it in a time i haven't seen all year.

Regardless of who you beat..1:46 and 4 is Tuc smokin ;)

however I would keep an eye on Awesome Gem..t his horse has to get his credit. And keep in mind.. since he became well.. Awesome Gem, he hasn't once ran on his surface of preference which would be dirt.

however besides thoose two.. that's a grade 3 field at best.

Horses don't run against the clock - they run against horses. And - don't make it seem that the final time came over a dead surface...look at the times of other races at SA today.

come on Roke...

1. they don't' run against the clocks, but like I told someone here ealier, time is an indication of talent level. you wouldn't waste your time putting a horse who on his absolute best, ran a mile and an 8th in 1:54, in a grade 1 race. you'd be wasting ar ace. A horse that can sniff 1:47 on any surface is a good horse. But I haven't seen a 1:46 and change run since Ghostzapper. On any surface. Ever. Since then.

All I'm sayin is the horse is right up there with Street Sense and Hard Spun and Curlin. I think he's better given what i saw today.

given the fact that Nashoba's key ran a time lol, that would have broken the Breeders Cup CLASSIC track record in her won... however that's on turf, I just found that funny

2.I'm going to keep 2 birds with one stone here and talk about the "other" race today at Turfway..

I really don't know what to think. I had a feeling hard spun would win. This is first race that Street Sense that has ran against anyone worth note outside of Churchill downs.. and he lost. however...Calivin didn't look like he was trying to pass Hard Spun. he's better than that. just waht you want to see out of a prep race. A horse actually prepping.

Lawyer Ron at Saratoga?

Any surface? On the turf, horses run 1 1/8th mile that fast all the time.

Who? The people that are impressed that he beat only one Grade 1 winner in the Whitney? Or Political Force in the Woodward?

Agreed. I can't believe... trainer included... that Student Council would go to run for a hundred thou when he'd have been the horse in this race... for what 4-500 thou... I don't get it.

I object. First of all times on this track are fast. Plain and simple. It is ripping fast in the morning... though it has slowed some since the rain... however still fast. you allow a horse to run and ou are ROLLING!!!! Thus all of the suoped up times in the morning. Anyone can work fast.... not Just the Baffert's, Headley's or who ever likes them to roll... they will all roll if you allow. So really it's not all that suprising times are rapid in the afternoon as well. It is a very fast track. Period

Second, as far as Street Sense and Hard Spun are concerned.... Lone speed... Need I say more.... likely not but I will anyway. Nafzgar said that was't a race the absoloutely had to win. it was a prep on a surface that he Street Sense had run a less than stellar race on pre KY Derby... keep that in mind. Ever heard of a spring board... I wouldn't toss Street Sense just yet. And to say that Tiago is as good or better... I dunno.... Maybe the BC is just shaping up to be a good race. Maybe although some of the key players have gone to te sidelines perhap some key players are also getting sharp right now.

What are you talking about? The Hawthorne Gold Cup was $500,000.

I thought when I looked a the form yesterday it said 100,000... though I might have consumed a large amount of beer by that time.... celebrating the victory, ya know...

OK, BDW... tell me after watching the JCGC that you think Tiago is better than those two racehorses? I have my doubts. Curlin and Lawyer Ron... I suspect Tiago can't warm these two up...

I suspect that Allen Jerkens is getting Political Force good at the right time. I can see both Curlin and Lawyer Ron regressing in the BC and Political Force moving forward.
