I was talking with my trainer while at the sales this weekend and he is trying to bring additional stallions in to the state. Even if we could get a few more 5k stallions it would help. I'm sending a couple of mares that way in the next month or so and am only worried about the breedback choices that we'll need to make. The market is a little different down there I believe - in terms of it being speed oriented, but I think you're right...the quality will be going up soon.

ct, that $10K stallion could already be in the State of LA. He ,just like the ones standing in KY , have got to prove themselves to attract that kind of fee. I know of several people that are sending very nice broodmares to LA from KY and have been doing so for the last 3 or 4 years. Don't you worry about what's here now because there is a new day acoming in LA. New visionary people are slowing making a contribution to the horse industry and I give them my full support!! Louisiana is the place to be!!!! :D

I just sold a (40)acre farm that i had to a racing quarter horse outfit. They are relocating from Kansas to take part of our program. The owners will train and race (8)horses for themselves. The other side of the operation will be boarding broodmares for owners out of kentucky. They are really getting busy to have the place ready for their clients. We were told at the closing that they are in search for another farm for a friend of theirs that wants to also relocate here in Louisiana....
Aside from the obvious ones, take a look at Erlton (we've bred to him) and Almostashar. We have a 2yo filly by Almostashar and she sure looks the part. He's an AP Indy, inexpensive and if this filly is any indication - looks wise - I'd go to him certainly at his low price. She won first crack out of the box.

Erlton throws some nice foals too.
Is your filly's name Geretta? If so we raced aginst her when she won in a MSW at EVD earlier this year. I have the filly that went off as the second choice Gray Gabi. She broke slowly and was never a factor. I went see almostashar last week and he is very impressive. Also Counter Punch and Mustang Jock look really great also. I have a Mustang Jock weanling colt that is very nice in size and bone.

Jarad-

Yes, that would be Geretta. I bought her at OBS knowing nothing about Almostashar. But she had a classic body and looked quick. Since her win we've put her away and we're aiming at October and November races. Based solely on her I would consider Almostashar.

Good luck with your filly.

CT: Good luck with her in the future, hopefully we can win with our filly and meet up again. Where will she be racing at? We will be working our filly next week, if she improves we will enter her at LA downs in a 25-30K maiden claimer going 6 1/2F on the dirt. After that we will race the rest of the year at Delta Downs.

speaking of LA stallions, what do you think of Fusaichi Rock Star?

that is litearly the prettiest horse I've ever seen in my life.. and he had a little bit of talent.

bdw, its a shame you have never seen my stallion, Mustang Jock. He also is standing in Louisiana. I have had more than one person tell me they have been to all the bigger farms in LA and though there may be some stallions more muscular, there are none more beautiful. Jock is a gorgeous copper bay, 16h and very correct. If you ever get down to Opelousas stop by the Running R Ranch just south of town and see Jock. You will not be disappointed.

I think he may be one of the worst stallion prospects of the 21st century

His female family is deceptively good... want to get technical, same family as Any Given Saturday, Tapit, Rubiano, Relaunch...
