Needmoneydad he beat by a half length. That is a 30-50k claimer at CHD. By no means is he to be confused with any sort of allowance or stake horse. Im trying to save you money, infact Ill book whatever bet he finishes no better than 5th

oooh Foggy!!! Stong words... I like it!!!!!

Never throw out Assmussen regardless of that last race. Everyone needs a single on their ticket, unless you have a huge bank roll to play with.

No, I"m just scared that Zanjero is on a downward spirale

Zanjero is "gettin bout that age" and you will never confuse Assumsen with being a top trainer of older horses

Z would have to back up a lot not to finish ahead of the Indiana bred. They all would.

Probably too strong Tuc, I didnt mean it to come off nasty. He just really cant beat those horses and doesnt belong in there. NMD is a mediocre claimer and that was all he wanted, that was also NMD off a 4 month layoff. You be the judge

see... and this opinion I have nO problem with in the least bit. i expect someone who has done their homework to have a strong opinion about something

but IMHO, the soundest long term bet is Squeaky Rich. assuming he goes off at 19 to 1 or higher.

If he were 900 to 1 I still dont think I could justify a bet. Lets see how he runs

Is anyone going to be there in person? I may try to come. Usually I am standing in the courner between the apron and the winner's circle.

I went one year and hated it.

I'm spoiled. I like to walk in, get a good "owners table," be able to walk back and forth from the table to the paddock to the finish line to the playground, etc easily. I also like to take no more than 30 seconds to place a bet if I choose to bet a race. I also like to be right ON the fence, either at the paddock or down the stretch. I also like to wear jeans and an old crappy t-shirt. I also like to park a reasonable distance from the entrance.

The year I attended the Derby there were no tables, which is understandable, but there was nowhere to sit PERIOD; plus you couldn't get close enough to see the horses in the paddock or get close enough to the fence down the stretch. There were people and lines everywhere and it was hard to get around. Again, this was all to be expected... I just don't like big, huge, overwhelming mob scenes. There was so much noise that you couldn't even hear the announcer. I also thought it was comical that there were SO many people in suits, tux's, evening gowns, and high heels. I mean, it's HOOSIER PARK for crying out loud... that attire just doesn't fit. And, to top it all off, you had to park in the next county.

But, that's jut me... I'm simply not a "noise and chaos" type of person. I've been to two Belmont Stakes races and I swear if I ever go again it will have to be because I have a horse in the race, and if I do, they'd better provide somewhere for me to sit that's far away from the crazies. Yuk. *shudders thinking about it*

But I hope you have a really good time! :P Seriously, have fun and let us know how you liked it!

I agree with your points. Hoosier is a functional track, and not a pretty track like Keeneland, etc. Too bad they can't redo the paddock so there is enough space for people to see the horses.

One year I went and never saw the race because of the mass of people. And outside there aren't enough tables or benches for that event. Maybe if they could add temporary ones it would help.

LOL at the comment you made about people in heels, tux's, etc.

I sure did end up going. I put money on Zanjero to win and used that money and $2 more to get the Indiana Derby drink. Can't believe they are now $7.

My friend's horse, Royaly Luckey, ran in the 11th race. He reared up in the paddock and for a scary moment I thought he was going to flip over. He finished up the track.

I did have a very good time, though. I put money on three horses Orlando Mojica was riding. For some reason, he didn't win any that night.

Before I left I went to see the track photographer to get a photo of Copy Runner, a registered black who won there a September 14.
