Todd Breaks His Goose Egg

Postby Heidilady » Sat Oct 27, 2007 3:47 pm

Someone had to bring it up. Matter of time I guess. Anybody find it amusing that whilst we had Pletcher and Asmussen getting BC wins, Baffert got 2 and Zito got 1? Ah, nostalgia. Ever think we'd be wonder about comebacks for those guys?

PS. And ol' Bobby Frankel too. Got another one. I hope his dog Happy is ok. He's doing chemo and Bobby stayed home to nurse him.

Just waite for the barrage of negative and demeaning posts. That's been the norm in the past.

After the Classic, Pletcher is 0-2 now, isn't he?

I'm not a big Pletcher fan, but he couldn't have broken his BC maiden with a better horse than English Channel.

Meanwhile I was happy to see Baffert get 2. I know Baffert's not always the most popular trainer, but I have a soft spot in my heart for him because it was him, War Emblem, and Victor Espinoza in the Derby that really caused me to fall in love with racing. (Looking back now being a lot more knowledgeable, they weren't exactly the greatest of heartwarming stories, but they certainly looked good to the undiscerning eye!)

That gets saved for the Derby, George. How's your man shaping up for next year with his countless supply of two year olds?

Like any other year since he has been in his own: Do the best he can with what he has.

With what he has? Herds of hand picked, well bred, well conformed horses...including yearling and two year old sales toppers. How's the picture lookin' for May?

As good as it can, as it could be for anyone in his circumstances.

Who else is in "his circumstances?" Between the BC Filly Juvie and Colt Juvie, he couldn't scrape up a two year old to run...not even for laughs? It never stopped him before.

Still, on spite of your rants, Todd Pletcher is doing as well as he can with whatever he has.

I guess it's better than his professor. That guy had nothing to run at all.

Mott ran only a few horses today, and they weren't his best.

I realize that Mott's 5-52 BC record can't compete with Pletcher's 3-51, but whatcha gonna do? At least Mott once won 16 in a row with his best Handicap horse...not 2 in a row.
