Cozzene
I know many are fans of Cozzene (Roke et al).
My question: What kind of a mare works best with him?
When I look at his best runners, I have a hard time finding a pattern. What bloodlines have worked the best? What about mare size and conformation, any thoughts?
I do not have a mare going to him but wish I did.

Cozzene needs a lot of older bloodlines which aren't as readily available anymore. He still gets them, and when he does good things happen, but not as frequently as 10 years ago.
He has done best with son strains of Ribot:
Alphabet Soup (BC winner)
Environment Friend (Champion)
Hasten to Add (Champion)
Tikkanen (BC winner)
Mizzen Mast (Gr-1)
Cocoboy (Gr-1)
Belle of Cozzene (Gr-3, won over $500k)
I think this is why/how Cozzene over Broad Brush mares has resulted in 2 SW out of 3 foals--Broad Brush is a major source of Ribot.
Linebreeding to Blue Canoe (his 3rd dam) through a 3/4 sister resulted in Gr-1 winner Gaviola. Linebreeding to Sir Gaylord through Drone (w/o Blue Canoe) resulted in Gr-3 winner Rhythym Band (Dubai Duty Free winner in its early days) as well as 3 other winners of at least $150,000. Got a Grindstone mare?
He seems to get on well with Bold Ruler, particularly Bold Ruler with an additional strain of either Hail to Reason or Princequillo (e.g. Boldnesian, Key to the Kingdom).
I see a lot of Buckpasser as well. He hasn't done especially well with speedy strains of Mr Prospector. He HAS done decently well with sons of Mr P over daughters of Buckpasser such as Seeking the Gold or Miswaki.
Finally he has had some good success with the Hyperion through Aureole, Khaled, and Olympia.

Cozzene is one stallion that I have always disliked.
Based on looks.
And what 'mite' you mean, exactly, "based on looks?"
Perhaps I'm biased, because we have a lovely Cozzene mare, plus 5 darned nice looking children from her. Please explain...

At 27 yrs old his conformation might not be the same as when he was 4 or 5. Granted the pics you're looking at are probably younger than present but, still, I'm not the man physically I was 20 years ago.
If you believe the numbers, he's the most underrated stallion in recent years along with Slew City Slew. JMO

Kimberley Mine:
Look at the hypo with Madelyn's mare and Cozzene, you get five of Plucky Liege's babies in the same pedigree. Don't remember seeing that before.

I plugged in Saluki Gold Rush against him ...... am I wrong to like what I see?
I realize he is not going to be around probably in 4 years but I am constantly hypo'ing her against stallions to get a better feel about what I need to look for should the time come.... I have 2 ambitions: breed to race and a sporthorse project with color. On this particular cross with Coz I'm loving the conduit mare prof. So tell me the error of my ways on this cross. I figure in a few years I may have a better feel of it lmao!!
trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while.
