Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December Mixed Sale
Just got my catalog but haven't had time to look through it.
There are alot of "interesting" mares...but keep in mind I like mares who are multiple stakes winners and have underproduced...previous finds include Kerygma (stakeswinner of $549K) best foal ran out nearly nada and then she became a stakes producer, Leecoo (over $200K stakes winner twice G1 placed...had 3 foals for me that have more than repayed me for her purchase price....bargain basement shopper here
Those are the type of mares I look for too, I rule out everything I know I can't afford, or the ones that have had tons of foals that did nothing. Those that have had several foals but haven't produced black type yet are the ones I like. I also like mares carrying their first foal, especially if the stallion they're in foal to isn't much.
Quite a few mares in the book that I like, but now I have to do the research to cull out and get my list to a short one.
The last mare I recommended was Wee Like U, we got her for less than 10k and she's done rather well. We did great selling her foals too. I was a part of the first 2 sold. They brought 30k and 35k respectively.

When we bought Wee Like U her first foal ( Gold Like U) was a yearling. She was back in foal to Gold Token. When we sold that foal (R B's Token) we got 30k for her. We bred the mare back to Austinpower (Jpn) and sold that foal for 35k ( Make Us Happy) . We then bred her back to Captain Bodget and when she foaled it was a dummy foal, but she ended up ok. She sold for 15k I think ( I was out of the picture by then.) Here's what they've all earned (not up to date, but was sometime this year.)
Gold Like U - 30 starts - 11 - 4 - 5 At 5 won Union Avenue stake
At 6 won Artic Queen stake
earnings - $389,403
R B's Token - 24 starts - 4 - 5 - 7 earnings of $175,613
Make Us Happy - 18 starts - 3 - 5 - 3 earnings of $126,075
Bodgits Jewel - 4 starts - 2 - 1 - 0 earnings of $30,700
Not bad for a mare that cost under 10k and to regional stallions or unproductive KY studs.

FT Sale Timonium
I'm new to the forum. Hope to attend at least the weanling portion of the sale. As I'm currently in DFW area, does anyone have suggestions on farms to keep a weanling or two to save from shipping to Texas? Appreciate any info.
I also think the catalog looks strong. Been pouring over it a few days now.

trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while.
Spex- I'll know by the end of this week what our schedule will be. I'll PM contact info then. My race record proves that I won't be offering any horse advice. I can however recommend the crab cakes at Michaels across the street from the sale. Given my recent history, they've proven a better investment
Hopefully, I'll be able to heed Madelyn's advice and stick to budget. You go into the sale with the best intentions of doing just that and then...
