FORTY ONE: Djebel/Klairon line not through Ahonoora

Postby Gillies-Fillies » Thu Nov 15, 2007 5:57 pm

I see that University of Louisiana-Monroe is in the process of discontinuing its Thoroughbred breeding/research program.

http://www.ulm.edu/agriculture/thorough ... sesale.htm

I've watched the stallion FORTY ONE (1988: Over the River-Fortuity, by Fortino) over the years because he's something of a rarity, stateside at least: he represents the Djebel-Clarion-Klairon line through Luthier instead of Lorenzaccio-Ahonoora (which is itself hard enough to find in N. America).

Looks like Forty One is already sold. Anyone know where he went and if he'll stand at his new farm at age 20?

Lit De Justice has Klairon through his dam and Redattore has Luthier through the sire's Roi Normand) dam.

Hmmm... well, that would explain a few things. Like no registered offspring as a sire. :-)

It looks like the UL-Monroe listing has been changed. Thanks for the correction to my post.

So... on the subject... any newly-discovered rare sire lines out there that merit discussion? I've been enjoying the "In search of diversity" pages on Reines: http://www.reines-de-course.com/in_search_of.htm

I've always liked the Reines site, but can anyone explain this comment on that page?

"Re Mocha Express:
It should be noted that Graustark is very probably not by *Ribot, but by Swaps."

Graustark was bred in the days way before DNA verification.
