Bid wrote:Spex- I'll know by the end of this week what our schedule will be. I'll PM contact info then. My race record proves that I won't be offering any horse advice. I can however recommend the crab cakes at Michaels across the street from the sale. Given my recent history, they've proven a better investment :D
Hopefully, I'll be able to heed Madelyn's advice and stick to budget. You go into the sale with the best intentions of doing just that and then...

ahhhhhh crabcakes (should be MD's state everything symbol  ) and then you mix that with horses ........ I'll be in almost virtual heaven!!! 8)
Bid- def drop a PM as time nears.... being a novice of TB flesh, I should prove to be worth a few laughs...(ok ok prob way more then a few!! :P )

Well, as far as I know, we're going. Hopefully both days. We usually sit in the second section (to the right of ring ). Usually somewhere in the middle. No clue as to what we'll be wearing.

PS - This is the sale where we got our weanling filly for 1,700 and sold the next Oct for 13k

I'm planning to make the trip as well. Looking forward to meeting everybody. (We really do need to get a bunch of PedigreeQuery baseball caps or something.)

Just a couple of questions - Does anyone know the average sales price for mares? There are several nice mares being offered.

Where is this sale?

Thanks!

Mood-
here is a great link with everything you need for area travel.

I have heard that there are usually some very good deals to be had here. I think Winds will attest to that too!!

I have only gone to the Fair Grounds for Expo they have there. Nice and spread out.... well except when it's raining and nasty !! :)

Some really good horses at fair prices are to be found at the sale. And yes some good bargains, both mares and weanlings. Especially if a weanling is in a growth spurt ( hind end higher than withers).

I really enjoy most of the sales at Timonium, lots of horses to look at and buy and lots of friends to talk to.

I'll be there for the mares - probably Sat to look and I'll be back to bid if something that fits my criteria catches my eye.

I nabbed one at Keenland - spent way UNDER my budget (now I'm trying to find the hole). So the one from KY needs a "friend" :D

I plan to be there both days but maynot be the most talkative...Saturday I am hauling a yearling down to the trainers barn in Northern MD and then attending a family dinner, then driving home to drive back down on Sunday and driving home and same on Monday...lots of driving so I will be tired and we are looking at a mare or two on Sunday. I have learned on the Sunday mare sale, if I am chatting Mom's hand finds its way to buying :D no complaints she bought a great deal a few years ago and I never saw her bid...sneaky devil!

Our plans are set. We'll only be able to make it Monday. If I recall, there are a couple of tables in the pavillion outside the food area. If they are still there, I'll get in early and secure one of those. I'll put a sign on the table that says "Pedigree Query". Looking forward to meeting everybody. We'll be easy to recognize-we'll look frozen & tired. We arrive @ 1am and threw away all our winter clothes when we moved to Texas :) Please feel free to PM contact info. Spex- we'll be in touch.

Hey all! I'm home for the holidays right now and had a great steamed crab/crabcakes dinner a bit further south down York Rd at Ocean Pride. If you'd like to try someplace other than Michael's, head abit further south (they are just south of Ridgely on the right, if you hit Seminary, you have gone past the building which is much bigger than it looks from the street). They actually had jumbos to offer up...not seen that in a long time.

Best of luck at the sale!
