Thanks for the tip AK. Fortunately I could eat crabs 3 meals a day. Steamed this time of year sounds too good to be true.

I went to college in Baltimore and must admit the thing I learned/loved the best was Chesapeake Bay Crabs...still not really a fan of crabcakes but I love crabs...by the bushel with all the beer you can drink..what a party

Red, all,
I bought 2452 (Coranado's Quest / out of a Capote Mare) on Sunday at Keenland.
We loved her physically. She is an unraced soon to be 8 year old who has had 4 foals (in 4 shots)
2 to race - both winners by Cherokee Run (sold as yearlings for 80k and 90k respectively)
Her yearling by Jo-berg probably won't make it and her weanling filly by Afleet Alex sold directly after her for 14k (I thought she would bring more - we'll see if she sells as a yearling)
She is in foal on a late cover to Eurosilver.
Her dam's weanling by Eurosilver sold for 150k (albeit to the people that stand Eurosilver - so who knows if that was to bump up the "avg" price).

So we'll see how she fits into the Penn Bred equation...

Congratulations - hope you get a good deal at Timonium, too.

It remains to be seen if the first one was a "good deal". Not many are. But I'll continue to think positively.

Congratulations on your purchase! Your new mare comes from a lovely family. We have a Coronado's Quest mare too, so I always keep an eye out to see what kinds of breedings are succeeding with them. Ours had her first foal by Cherokee Run this year; she's in foal to Forest Wildcat for 2008, and booked to Posse for 2009 (Kodiak Kowboy, Posse's best runner so far, is out of a CQ mare.) Just some food for thought. :)

Ok, how are we all going to know one another at the sale?

easy BLAZE ORANGE!!!! lmao!!......

Ok I for one will be there both days. Arriving on Sunday prob right around 930 or 10 if traffic is crazy. And either popping into a hotel for the night or crashing in my trailer (lacking a shower so prob not that one lmao!!) :?

So I guess so far we have 2 good restaurant suggestions and nothing else lmao!!! I like Bids proposal for Monday, so that sounds good to me. :) I'll have my trusty cell on my side too!!
trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while. :)

Monmouth Matt, I know you were looking. Were you able to pick up any mares for yourself?

Can also recommend the Ashland Cafe for breakfast...head north on York Rd from the track, it is in Cockeysville in the strip of all of the antique stores and will be on your left. (If you have been going to the sales a long time, the underpass used to be right there back in the day). My Dad has been going to Mr John's place for years for his morning coffee.

Definitely drive north at night and check out the lights at Valley View Farms. And head downtown to see the lights at 34th St...requirement of owning a row home in this one block of Hampden is to dress up your house at Christmas. My favorite is the hubcap tree!

Several of the Asian restaurants right around there are regularly frequented and enjoyed by my family...I'm not a big fan so have not been, but they do rave about them.

If anybody's interested in looking at mares on Saturday, please let me know. I'd be happy to join you.

I'm leaving the checkbook at home so I'll be perfectly content to just tag along and talk horses.

Couldn't find any BLAZE ORANGE, so I had to settle for a red baseball cap with the Nike swoosh.

I'll probably be somewhere on the center-right near the top on Sunday, trying desperately not to sneeze, cough or otherwise inadvertently bid on a mare.

Looking forward to meeting everybody.
