What is the story on this old guy? He's been around for a long time, gets a fair number of 2 yr old runners and about 55 stakes horses total. it also appears his AEI is much lower than the comparable AEI.

Any thoughts or insights? Certainly not commercial anymore but what about as a breed to race poly sire?

On a positive note, i have heard that his daughters are starting to show some classy offspring so maybe he'll make his name as a broodmare sire.

I would expect him to be a solid broodmare sire. I love his female family.

You know I keep going back to him... Since I have to look at stallions for only 4 this yr and Im not going to spend a gazillion dollars on fees. Dayjur just looks like a nice bargain for 2 of my mares.

I also like Albert the great and Brahms...obviously its a toss up betweem he and Dayjur for the same 2 mares. I guess I could send one to each ...huh?

I like Dayjur a lot and always have. I've had a few of his foals - from both ends of the spectrum - when he was hot and now. He tends to stamp his babies both physically and mentally - they tend to be good looking, slightly agressive but with great minds. I have a 2yo by him currently in training and I adore that horse. I doubt he's going to have the talent his sire did, but he should be a useful horse and he's just a joy to be around.
Dayjur is starting to make a name for himself as a BM sire and if you breed to him, I'd hope for a filly. :) He is, however, getting a lot of cheap mares and I've found when people hear a horse is by Dayjur they tend to assume the mare has absolutely no pedigree. But, bottom line is - at least IMO fwiw - I think he's a solid, often-overlooked stallion that can get you a useful horse that most likely will be good looking to boot.
