On 28 May 2006, C. and myself went to Centreville Equine/Glasgow Farms to visit and take pictures of my horses. C. and I walked to the paddock where my mare was suppose to be and we were unable to locate her. We went to the office and asked where she was. S. told us that Salomay was in the paddock behind the barn. C. and I both stated that we were just out there and Salomay wasn't there. S. said to go back out there, she's out there grazing. We proceeded to the paddock behind the barn and walked around the paddock, with no sign of Salomay. She was being field boarded and she had no run in shed, but was supposed to have had one. The paddock was an open field, Salomay was no where to be found. We started walking back to the office and saw E. so we asked her. E. told us that she hadn't seen her for a few days, I think she was sold. C and I headed back to the office wondering what was going on. Before we got to the office we went to another paddock where we saw Dr. Tubman walking out of another paddock. C. and I asked Dr. Tubman if she could tell us where Salomay was. Dr. Tubman told us that she was in the paddock behind the barn, grazing (pointing in the direction of the barn). I told her that we had just left there and she was not there. Dr. Tubman said "I just saw her, she's in there". So started back to the paddock, but Dr. Tubman stops us and said I'm sorry, Salomay died a few days ago. She said she didn't know how to tell us. I asked how she died and Dr. Tubman stated that she had coliced. Dr. Tubman said that she burried her behind the back paddock behind the barn. Before we left she said that she removed the fetus from Salomay (Salomay was in foal) and put it in a jar for me to take home. I questioned her why

CONT. she didn't call and the only response was that she didn’t know how to tell us. C. and I were furious and were yelling and cursing at Dr. Tubman and had here in tears. On my way home, I called my wife, and explained to her what Dr. Tubman had said. She also wanted to know why Dr. Tubman didn't notify us.
My wife called and spoke with Dr. Tubman and asked her why she didn't notify us. Dr. Tubman stated “that she just didn’t know how to tell us with everything that was going on, Salomay coliced and that happens all the time with horses”. My wife told Dr. Tubman that she needed a necropsy report faxed to the Jockey Club in order to get the death certificate and that she would need a copy also. Dr. Tubman said that she would fax it to them and make her a copy.
1. We find this very irresponsible and wrong for our mare to have died; a necropsy performed and buried 3 days before we, the owners, were notified. Dr. Tubman and S. lied repeatedly that Salomay was out in the back paddock behind the barn knowing that Salomay had died 3 days earlier.
2. A copy of the necropsy was requested on several occasions; however, we still do not have a copy.
3. Salomay was also on Strongid C2X, a feed to help prevent colic. At least this is what we understood from Dr. Tubman.
