I am so sick of snow!

Postby Karie » Thu Feb 07, 2008 9:42 pm

We have had sooo much snow and ice that its just horrible!
for days the horses couldn't go out because it was a sheet of ice in front and behind the barns.. We got another 8 or so inches yesterday but its still ice underneath it!

I put my 2 year old Equality filly (named Beat the Deadline) out anyway and she had a blast!

She's a beautiful filly. Just curious, is she a bay or a chestnut? I can see that she is graying out, but that is not really the true color.
I know it's not really important, but I would like to see the day, where all horses are registered unded their correct color, with the addition that they have inherited the gray gene.
Anyway, best of luck with her, she looks great, and happy to be out in the snow.

she was born chestnut and is dapple grey now.
She has been grey since about 8 months. She turned grey quickly in my opinion.

Again the roads are a mess... This is getting old.. WHY do I live in Michigan?? sigh.....

Its going to be a horrible drive to the farm.

Beautiful little girl you have there! I hope you keep the snow up there, I don't want any!!! Although right now the muds not much better and they're saying 8 degrees on monday..... Looks like she's having a blast in that snow. I love it when they get snow on there whiskers !

Karie,

She's beautiful- and despite the snow, it sure makes for a 'seasonal' picture! :)

I'm ready for warm temps too!!!

Karie... I'll trade you. All that deep snow you have for all the deep mud and flooding that we have...

What a gorgeous filly!! Great pictures.

Like Roguelet, we are up to our cannon bones in mud here. All that RAIN!! I bought some of those heavy duty dish/toilet scrubbing brushes for a buck at the dollar store. I put old unmatched sport socks over and we are using them to wash down legs (get the mud off). They work GREAT and then if it's a bit cold you don't get your hands wet.

I have sale horses to photograph today, and I wish I had a pull down backdrop because everywhere is muddy and ugly.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

I'm not far from Karie, so my complaints are the same. But I will take cold and snow over cold and mud anyday! So where do we go where its not as bitter, with no mud. We are seriously thinking of relocating, and putting the farm up for sale this spring. What about TN or KY? We get 3 months out of the year where we can actually do anything.

Let those sore Tb out in the snow to tighten up their sorness, better than all those linaments.

We are in the Willamette valley in Oregon, and we've had it all in the last 3 weeks! 6 inches of snow on top of fairly dry frozen ground, then torrential rain and more snow and ice!
We are back to 40 degrees and light rain here, but 30 miles up the pass in Idahna and Detroit, they have the National Guard digging them out from under 7 ft or more of snow!

Very pretty filly!! It is weird to see how greying occurs at such different rates.

We have had one occasion of snow...a whopping 2 inches  .....and then it rained buckets.
trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while. :)

We have nothing else than rain over the last weeks.
I have drained a couple of sandpaddocks and made 1 large riding paddock between each drain some 6 feets for the owner of the trotting stable where Mellanie Surprise our tb retired.
Countryside is floaded all over.
It is now lovely wheather some 10 degrees with sun.
Alas expected severe rain in the next week again.
We would love to get Some Snow for a couple of weeks.
Since Mellanie retired she was facing rain each day.
