Well there goes another - his progeny must love sandy track surfaces.

I feel bad for those who were somehow counting on him doing more here in the states. Winstar had him for $10K?

Victory Gallop - Good luck in Turkey
Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.
I have a buddy who had a mare booked to Victory Gallop this year, when the news that he may be up for sale to Turkey appeared on this site, I gave him a call to give him a heads up. He told me he had just spoken to Winstar that morning and they hadn't mentioned anything, and were still going through with the contract process. He actually just finally got the contract a few days ago, then yesterday morning they called and told him that Victory Gallop was sold, but offered to breed his mare to Sharp Humor. Needless to say he won't be doing ANY business with Winstar anymore, this was a truley idiotic thing for them to pull on their customers, just a couple weeks before breeding season kicks off.

Poor way to conduct business!!! Breach of contract, whatever you want to call it. How long did Winstar know that Victory Gallop was going to be sold off? I can't believe they booked mares to him...sheesh.

I think a lot of stud farms are accustomed to mare owners who (1) are not treated as clients and (2) just do what they are told. They were probably confident they could push another stallion on the guy. And stud farms do not consider mare owners to be clients. Stallion owners are their client.

And if it wasn't for mares....the stallion would have no job and no job, no stud fee coming in
man that just stinks how they tried pushing another stallion onto the mare owner...

Victory Gallop
I have yet to talk to them regarding our contract. They never mentioned any possible sale during our visit or any prior communications. I really hate this as I love Victory Gallop. When we visited him in early January he was just back in the country and in quaranten. I thought it a little strange that during the "open house" that they had him out muddy in a field. We had to have a groom fetch him for our view. Time for the backup plan.

I was looking at some 2005 stories, and he was the leading first crop sire in 2003 and 2nd leading second crop sire in 2004, IIRC.
He's got a couple on the Ky Derby trail this year, and one is an early favorite.
Why is he such a failure that they would send him to Turkey?
Seems that I read something about him coming with the farm when they bought it and renamed it Winstar.
The owners sound like the back sides of donkeys to me.

Elliot Walden, Victory Gallop's trainer, is the vice president of Winstar Farm. I'm sure VG has a special place in his heart and he wouldn't agree to send the horse into a situation that wasn't safe and beneficial to Victory Gallop.
Winstar has offered to fund Victory Gallop's return to the US upon his retirement.
That said, I sure am disappointed that I won't have the opportunity to breed my filly to him.
