Mare is waxing up! (Picture of Colt added)
My mare has full bags and started waxing up this morning. She is not due until mid march
. Do I have anything to worry about?

I agree with Madelyn!! Your mare has a cover date of mid April and she has wax now?! That would mean she is around 310 days gestation. It is rare for a mare to foal at 310 days unless there is a complication of some sort. I hope your vet is able to give you some good news, best of luck to you and your mare.

Her cover date was 4/19/07 which would put her due around mid March. She did not wax up for another 8 days (yesterday) and only on one side. We are currently at day 315, hopefully she will hang on for a while longer.
She is early, but is way past placentitis (usually 2 months out). Is she a maiden, or a small mare? I have one who goes 10-14 days early every year and every foal has been normal and big compared to her (she's tiny). I would be worried, but not paranoid, best bet would be to get your vet out there to check her out. Be ready when she does go to be in there to do everything possible to help the foal if it needs it. I had a maiden wax over a month and a half early (a few years ago), she was dripping over a month early, when she went her foal was huge (unfortunately was a dystocia). Sometimes they are just ready to come out, according to our clock or not.
Good Luck with the mare and her foal.
