End of a Rotten Week... hopefully things will improve

Postby madelyn » Fri Mar 14, 2008 7:34 am

Broke my leg last Sunday. All that ice & snow, putting round bales in the mare paddock, slipped down a steep embankment and got stepped on....

Wednesday night a mare aborted a red bag.

Have to have surgery on the leg on Tuesday (no health insurance).

What a bummer week.

Good luck with the surgery.
Hopefully, things can only get better.

Ouch, on both fronts. Unfortunately they don't make pain pills that can help you get over the loss of the foal, but you can load up on the kind for your leg. Hope you feel better soon.

Hang in there Madelyn, our thoughts are with you!

Hope everything went well in surgery and that you will be up and at em in no time.

So sorry to hear about the foal. Just caps off a horrible week for you, geez. Hope the mare is ok and ready to be bred back this year for you.

Hope you recover soon! I broke my leg a few years ago and had to have surgery. Not fun at all. We'll have to have a party for you to cover that surgery!

Okay, I'll be there.. bring a pen and sign my cast... believe it or not I've been on the phone NEGOTIATING the price of the anasthesia, surgeon, etc. before the operation! I need $1500 by Monday to pay in advance.. They will bill for the rest..

So sorry to hear. You've got good barn help to take over for you? Take the pain pills! I remember that bad accident you had a few years back, YOU the trooper out doing way too much too soon with the head injury + had many of us worried. Please take it easy and ask for help

So far craigslist is keeping us supplied with a great selection of help.

It just SUCKS. A pal is bringing some crutches by today. Another pal brought a walker a couple of days ago. I can't wash my hair. Cook a meal. Wash a floor. Breed a mare.. it goes ON and ON...

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Does Kentucky have any programs for the non insured? Might be worth checking.

Nope, unless you qualify for Medicaid (cannot have real estate, car, assets of any kind). But individual medical centers and hospitals do.

I'm sorry for all your misfortune. My thoughts are with you.
Get well soon!
