Cannot find this horse on the database (either all breed or thoroughbred). This horse raced at Playfair in Spokane and was the horse who was mauled in Spokane so badly last year by pit bulls that he had to be put down. I don't know his sire and dam and hence I can't add him.
Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

Here you go:

Looks like he used to be there, but both he & his dam had been deleted.
I was almost stumped - didn't think any of the matches seemed recent enough, until I googled the article and saw the the horse was thirty-three at the time of his death. Poor old guy.

Thank you very much Lucy. He deserves to be there. Yes it was a sad thing indeed that happened to him. I believe his owners (I think he was a homebred) were heartbroken to have had him so long and then for him to have his life end in that fashion. They said 'Drink's winnings paid for their little farm. Supposely when he was running he was a well known late closer who gave his fans numerous near heart attacks. I have a student working on a combined GIS study of the Playfair track in Spokane plus ethnography - we hope she'll be able to produce a little brochure or pamphlet.
There are lots of people around with memories and stories to tell.
But it was really sad to look at one of the sequences of aerial photos we'll be working with from 1995 when the track was active through 2002, 2003 when Playfair had ceased operating but the buildings were still there, and then the 2005 photograph where it's all been demolished. Air Photos only go back to about 1938 here and the track was one of the half dozen oldest in the country - however for the spatial component prior to that we think we'll be able to find old maps or plans and for the stories I will be the one searching the newspaper archives (since I'm not a trained ethnographer, my student is, and in any case I'm shy about interviewing people).
Anyway, thank you again for Drink The Wind - he's part of Playfair History.
