Overdue mare - no bag!

Our mare is over due by 8 days. Last year she foaled a week early and was very large. She's kinda small this year compared to last year. She was bred to the same stallion, so we expected her to go early and have another large foal. However she is not so big, 8 days over due and has no milk bag yet. Does anybody have any information they could provide me?

Relax, be patient and quit worrying!!!! Why do we humans think we can always control "mother nature"???? Your mare will have that baby when that baby's ready to be born. It's NOT TIME!!!! You're taking all the fun out of a miraculous event.

"Normal" gestation for a mare is anywhere between 320 and 370 days. So looking at it that way, she isn't really overdue, just taking a bit longer than she did last year. When the foal is ready, she'll be ready.

I have a maiden mare that is 385 days today. Dont you think Im not pulling my hair out over that.
