Prized Mare For Sale

Postby NorthStar » Sun Apr 20, 2008 7:51 am

Received a concerned email on this. Don't know if any breeders here might be interested in this mare.

Well at least they don't mince words; "If you don't buy her we will chop her head off!" mmmmmmmm nice.

I would note that as a TB broodmare, she was bred to Riab 3 x. If that helps anyone. Not exactly a stallion to further a mare's value or career as a broodie. She's not showing a TB report since 2002. Perhaps she's been used for sport horse breeding. She raced and won twice in Turf Paradise, per her records.

Sire is a millionaire son of Kris S and dam is 1/2 to Silver Hawk... turf people be aware!

Of course, she's old, not done anything in production, and is in Utah. I certainly would pay $1 for her!

If she were in KY or the midwest, I'd send her to Castledale. Since she's closer to California, I'd love her with Lit De Justice.

This kind of ad makes me nuts. Basically what they're saying is "We don't want this mare, but we think someone should take her and breed more horses that no one will want." At least she isn't already in foal.

In some ways, its worse than that. Essentially they are saying "Take this mare or we'll kill her." Where I come from, that's called extortion.

I just saw this ad, and am ashamed and astonished at the wording, well, it's not just the wording. I've sent it to my friends who have a large TB farm in Lexington. Hopefully someone can help. I wish I could, but I live in the city.

How disgusting...

Can anyone out there help this poor girl? Use them, abuse them, then treat them like they are trash.....the 'owners' should never be allowed to have any horses again

I called them and told them I'd take her. Haven't heard back from anyone. But if anybody knows of some cheap shipping to Kentucky, let me know.

The money really isn't the issue although I appreciate the passion. I just don't want to spend more than I have to on the shipping. I'm looking up some stuff now and making a few phone calls to friends who ship a lot.

As soon as I get a call back from the sellers I'll update you. Hopefully they're not ignoring my call for a reason.

But feel free to donate the $10 to any horse charity you fancy.

I am pming you the name of my guy. He gives great rates and I know he will be eager to help save this mare. I passed her info along to a client of mine in Utah. It seems from what he said they may have a second mare? I will try and get the scoop. I have stressed over her for days. I am also in Ky so if you need anything please let me know. Bless you for stepping up to the plate. :)

With that pedigree, she'd probably be a lot better turf or sport horse Broodie than dirt sprints. I really, really like her dam lines for sport.
