Azul Leon

Postby Pete » Sat Jul 05, 2008 5:07 pm

Hi Folks,

Azul Leon won the Hollywood Juvenile Stakes (G3) today giving Lion Heart his 2nd stakes winner and first graded in most impressive fashion.

If you haven't seen the race it's certainly worth a look at http://WWW.Bloodhorse.Com.

Lyin' Heart, another son of Lion Heart, ran a game 2nd in the Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) at Churchill today as well.

It's interesting that both of these colts have been coming off the pace given that Lion Heart was a dedicated front runner.

Regards,

Pete

Ran a difficult five wide to take the win. Extraordinary effort. Definitely was the class of the field.

Hi Shammy,

Azul Leon bobbled at the start but was very professional for his 2nd race as a 2yo. Hard to tell the quality of his competition but he certainly seems to be a youngster to watch. His connections mentioned the Breeder's Cup Juvenile as his target.

Reminded me of another 2 yr old named Favirote Trick. Guess Joseph Lacombe might have another one. :D

Don't know about that. I'll have to see a few more starts, but I definitely think he ran a very professional spot on race.

I'm amazed no one has commented on this colts win (via disqualification) in the 2008 BEST PAL Stakes. This is one tough juvenile. Hope he keeps improving.

Hope he keeps improving and stays sound.

I saw a very nice two year old by Include called Stamp get a truly terrible trip in his debut at Saratoga today. He was much the best but was blocked to third. I think he's one to watch for in the future.
