Better Than Honour to be sold

Postby Mood Swings » Mon Aug 11, 2008 9:55 am

Better Than Honour will be sold as part of a dispersal of the joint holdings of Southern Equine and Hill 'n' Dale farms.

That partnership didn't last too long. Any guesses as to how much she'll bring? Or who will buy her?

Sounded like it was a bad marriage from the start. I guess one of them could not get over the other not putting the toilet seat down.

Those mares will bring a tidy sum. I would assume the Arabs and Coolmore will be after all of those mares.

Well Hill 'n Dale might go to bat for her if they are bidding with a 50% discount.. ditto Southern Equine. If one of the partners is just buying the other out for 1/2, it could possibly be a shutout.

Better Than Honour IS open. I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say she could bring $4.5 million. She is, after all, NOT in foal and twelve years old.

Madcap Escapade i/f to AP Indy - now there's a $7.5 million package.

Point Ashley i/f to Distorted Humor - $3.5 million.

Anyone else got any guesses?

Southern Equine has been been spending Millions on quality bloodstock, does anyone know if they have hit the bullseye yet. ?

Not sure whether the bullseye will have come to fruition yet? Correct me if I am wrong, but Southern Equine is still quite new to the business. It will be interesting though as they certainly haven't spared any nickels and dimes on their bloodstock as you say. Hypothetically speaking .... if I had multi-millions, I would buy several quality horses versus one :D

I'll play. My guess is 3.7M for Better Than Honour.

My guess is that SE is the antithesis of IEAH. Their trainer is low #'s and they have hired people for too darn much money and don't have much in the way of return. I give the 5 years tops to keep loosing money like they are and fold. No offense to anyone involved.

I think she'll bring arond $6m - mainly because with two partners that will be bidding with 50-cent dollars, that could set up another Cash Run scenario.

Coolmore will probably sit on their hands as they have both Rags & Peeping Fawn already, but the Sheikhs may get involved.

T: Do you remember Robert Brennan Due Process Stable a few years ago. They were going to set the standards for racing & breeding to show everyone in the industry how its done. Due Process spent milliions & after a few years time they dropped off the charts.
