Just enabled them in this forum. Let's see who can come up with the coolest one. Note, to change/add an avatar, click on the profile link above.
Also, I need ideas for separating out the General Discussion group on this forum into more specialized categories/sections. It'll make it eaier to follow threads over extended periods and get longer threads going that way. Suggestions welcome.
Note, even though my avatar is holding a bunch of cash, I'm always a loser when I go to the track. Maybe it's not appropriate, but I thought he looked pretty cool.

The thought of getting categories in, would be most sufficient and benefitting a larger use of the message board.

looking to another very successful forum, chronicle of the horse, there is a "best of" section where threads that were exceptionally in-depth - or humorous, and a horse health section that might be approriate here as well.
Also, the research section might benifit from a "read this before posting" entry that reminds people of what information is necessary to respond to a query and also other sources for information that they can follow up on themselves.
and lastly, an area for posting possible errors, duplicates etc.
thanks for asking

Here's what I'm thinking about:
1) General Pedigree / Breeding Discussion
2) Mating Advice - get advice on matings or mares
3) Sales
4) Stallions - Comments and discussion on various stallions
5) Horse Care - veterinary / training issues from other members (perhaps this is two different sections)
Racing Discussion - talk about actual races / results, etc.
6) Buying / Selling (we already have that)
7) Research Requests (already there as well)
Does that sound good? Anything I should add? A couple more I can think of off the top of my head might be History, Understanding / Analyzing pedigrees, new foals.

I like Madelyn's - that nose is funny. Mine is some pre-history carving found somewhere in europe.
Maybe we can add to the Buying/Selling forum for "placement" and the description to include rescues and new homes help or something.
Buying/Selling/Rescue
or
Buying/Selling/Placement
Can we have avatars over in the All Breed forum, too? I like these. They spice up the forum and make for some fun.

Anyone know how to convert a JPEG image into something a bit less space-consuming so it can be used as an avatar?
