i changed "good" to "nice" since "good buy" is too much like "good bye". I intend to analyze this purchase closely tonight and try to figure out what it is about those El corredors!

Say what you will, the sale last night was down $34 million from last year.
No question the sale is down, but the middle market is as strong as ever. I think you're going to see a lot of good money going deeper in the sale.
Good fillies are bringing 50 to 100k more this year than they would last year at this point in the sale.

my take:
is this a world record for % of black type in a pedigree? and, 1984 was a very good year 'eh?
Seriously (and straightforwardly) speaking: Mr. Greeley and Silver Deputy are/were scrubbs from day 1, and it hardly helps my mood that these two make me look bad occasionally re my opinions about them.
BUT, Gone West, El Corredor, Clever Trick, Icecapade and TV Lark--two things--1. speed from Gone West! 2. bone and conformation from Clever trick. This is a nice, logical pedigree from what I'm looking at. I've had association with two Clever Tricks--even bought one at Keeneland about 1992 and some guy came right behind me and offered me $1000 more for the horse I just bought--liked them both. Nice conformation, racy looking. CT as a brood mare sire I'll defer to more knowledgable, but that dam seems a decent advertisement. best of luck!
dray33 wrote:Excellent, thank you rr! The person who bought her for me felt as you do... although she was a bit small and had minor stuff on her xray, she was a nice package for the price. She will need some time, but that we have.
My take is that if it's nothing serious, this was an awesome deal. Excellent paper! The only negative point on paper is the age of the dam, but I think the produce record speaks by itself. This filly is out of a sire that is already showing he can produce the big horse. Lot of speed in the pedigree makes her a good pinhooking prospect. Good luck!
