Oakhurst provides excellent care for all the horses entrusted to them. Their reputation is second to none. If you can afford it, buy a horse from them! I just lost one of my mares, and will probably be at the sale, but I am not sure if I will buy--the market is too unstable at this time.
The stallions have been dispersed to various places in Washington and Oregon, as I believe the farm has been sold. But I am not certain if that is final yet. I have heard they will be relocating to Kentucky sometime in the future.
They will be missed...
This leaves a big hole in the Oregon breeding (and racing) program.

I know that Dr. Litin and Prospected have or are going to Washington, so you Washintonians are lucking out. I also heard that Timber Legend may be going through the auction on the 4th..but do not know that for sure. Baquero, Bagshot, Unbridled's Comet, Ochoco, Slew's Saga, and a Quarter Horse stud are still listed on their webpage as standing, but that will probably change. The situation really sucks in my opinion. I am now faced with even longer travel distances to have my mares bred. With that said, people have to do what they have to do, to make a living. I am sure they will be successful in whatever ventures they seek, and I wish them well. They are really nice people!
Jack will still be the track vet at Portland Meadows this season, so I guess they will be here at least until the end of the meet.
If anyone is going to the auction on the 4th perhaps we can meet up and drown our sorrows with a beer!

Sorry, I did not mean to imply he would not be treated well. I have no idea who has him. I stated that because I really like all the stallions that Oakhurst had, and wish to see them all in good homes. In light of recent events posted on other threads, and the current economy, I am merely stating that I hope he is treated well. Please do not take my remark out of context. Nothing untoward was intended...
