thread
her posts certainly werent any nastier than half dozen people who routinely post on all these forums, and are very personally rude to the posters, and yet they are never banned, never even warned. she definitely was no less "politically astute" than some other posters who dont seem to know their you know what from a hole in the ground, but they know the right people and others respond to their ridiculous post with positives, assurances, and good luck to you, blah, blah, blah. The only time she got rude was when people start saying really mean things about her advertising her stallion, and she had a right to be rude back. people on these boards think they have a right to say anything they feel, however stupid, uneducated, etc., and perhaps they do, but when they get nipped back, they feels so affronted, like "how dare she". Well, what the hell do you expect
I posted about the sales in Ky this past month, and immediately was given a scolding about how I didnt know how reserves worked etc. and I didnt understand the economy etc, but I guarantee if someone else in the correct crowd had made a remark about rna's, bargains and the not so bargains had said the same thing, nine people would have been, " I know what you are saying, I cant believe this or that either" And yet the cry for "new blood' and new owners and more interest in the sport continues. if someone was interested in getting into this business of racing etc, and for some reason looked at this board first, they would run like hell. It is a good thing most of the people who really are involved ( for example the farm in Ky I talked to yesterday about their stallions) really dont give two hoots what the people who post on these type forums say or think, it isnt even a part of anything in their real world of breeding, owning and racing. They are way too busy doing it for real. Unfortunatey, most ( not all, I know some of you are for real)of these posters have too much time on their hands and not enough experience or horses to take care of, they instead come up with new ways to snipe, ridicule or whatever makes them feel better about themselves. her stallion was nicer than what I bet alot of people on this board own. And she has just as much right to breed him as some of the "new" regional stallions I see advertised on here. poor thing will be over 10-12 years old, have stood in 2-5 different states, and not one person says, "Hey, ever thought about gelding that boy?" Instead they applaud, congratulate, way to go, he will be a great regional stud, etc. If I was to buy one of these studs, I would be lambasted to hell and back, and much like this lady, also accused of being a part of the slaughter situation. People, get a life, and if you dont like this horse, dont use him in your breeding program, but you have NO right to treat anyone on this board like the way I have seen people be treated, in fact, you have NO right to treat anyone that way, except all you posters who are breeding big winners, of course.
Walaa if you are referring to the "Keeneland November breeding stock" subject posts, I didn't feel you were "scolded" in the thread, JMO.
It is a different board than it was 8 months ago. We've sort of gone from the wild wild west to total vanilla with questionable censorship. The locked "Sentencing Update" thread is a perfect example. Here was a board member with a documented legal disposition executed, yet opinions on said subject matter were considered too sensitive for discussion. I disagree. Subject board member's actions were a matter of public record and said behaviour was not above scrutiny IMO.
I guess it is impossible to please everyone all of the time.

Let me preface this by saying that I have no idea what "went down" with the thread in question or what the original comment on this thread was, because I've been out of town for several days for Thanksgiving (with no Internet access) but if someone felt the thread needed to be deleted, I'm sure there was a very good reason (whether that reason was outwardly obvious or not.) There are several people who have the ability to delete threads, and not one of those people has ever proven to be overly reactionary or prone to be "delete-happy" in any way.
However, I do want to address this quote, because I was responsible for the situation that led to it:
I locked that thread, and stand behind my decision to lock it, but I should have done it in a different manner. The last ORIGINAL POST on that thread was completely inappropriate and way over the top. I deleted that post completely and then locked the topic, because I have issued more than a fair share of warnings on that topic. I have no problem with people addressing that particuar issue or commenting on the proceedings, as long as they do so within the board rules. However, every single time anything relating to that topic has been posted, it has led to someone or several someones completely ignoring board rules and subsequent warnings with regard to board rules, and I have lost all patience with it. There are only so many times I will repeat and repeat the same warnings on the same topic before it becomes clear that it is a waste of my time to continue. So, rather than edit and warn AGAIN, I just deleted and locked. Retrospectively, it would have been better to edit instead of delete that last post before locking, so the rest of you were aware that there was an additional post that pushed that thread over the cliff, and the locking was not done in response to the comments that are still showing on the thread.
Months ago you all as a group requested heavier control over and far less tolerance of behavior from posters that could be considered as attacking or offensive. In response, new rules were formed and more moderators were brought on board so there would be more "eyes" looking out for trouble and potential train wrecks would be derailed more quickly. As a result, things will be edited, deleted or locked that would not have been before.... but remember that's what the members, as a group, determined was best.
