Tiago Gets No Respect

Postby spinround » Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:36 pm

The opening line of the Bloodhorse recap of HOTY "As the only member of the elite crop of 2007 3-year-olds to return to racing as a 4-year-old, Curlin had the hopes of racing fans across the country resting on his shoulders". What about Tiago? He had more G-1 wins than Hard Spun and outfinished Any Given Saturday both times they met. He and Curlin were the only two three year olds to beat older horses in 2-turn G-1s. A small gripe, I know but where's the love for Tiago?

Tiago is running in 2009? If so, WOO! He was actually my favorite of the entire crop from 2007! I saw he was on the docket for Adena, but then I had not heard more...could be interesting!

He's better than the attention he gets, you're right.
Perhaps Giacomo's rather unimpressive career (save the derby) is a reason. Same dam.

Wish that in December, I could have gotten a Future Book bet on Tiago in the Santa Anita Handicap. Maybe he'll earn some respect then.

I thought he was going to be standing for Adena this year?

Tiago's not running in '09 (to my knowledge) but he was a 4yo in 2008 and a member of the '07 three year old class. My point was Curlin wasn't the only top 3yo from '07 to come back as a 4yo.
