sire suggestions please

Postby st. louis kid » Thu Feb 26, 2009 12:43 pm

Would like some opinions on a sire for the mare Royal Bandita.
Breeding to race in Illinois, looking for a proven stud in Kentucky in the $7,500 to 20,000 range. She is a good sized mare and has produced big foals.

The strongest part of her pedigree would seem to be the sire line so you might double up on Hail to Reason. Maybe use Hat Trick by Sunday Silence.

She is in foal now to Silent Name, which is what you are saying with Hat Trick. Want to breed her to a proven sire this year. Some we have considered are-Gulch, Smoke Glacken, E Dubai, Quiet American and Mutakddim. Thanks for your reply.

War Chant

War Chant falls into your price range and has had 3 stakes winners this year. His best horses have been when inbreeding to Roberto. About half of his stakes winners also include Bold Ruler. Your might check our the mating recommendations by Anne Peters from the 3C web site.

I also love QA with your mare.

Roberto inbreeding is starting to have some real good results. An interesting horse with her is Arch.

They may be willing to go down to 20k with him and he brings in more Roberto but also Tulle through Courtly Dee which is hard to come by.

I love QA, we have a VERY nice '06 filly by him out of a Dynaformer mare. When she was a weanling we named her Roxanne....as in the song Rox-annnnee....she's got style! :D

I like Posse for this mare. He's doing well in the track and in the sales. Arch might be a good choice as mentioned by another member. I also looked for doubling Roberto.

Good luck there. I tried to get my Theatrical Mare, Variety, to Arch twice the last two years because the resulting foal was an A++ with both Werk and Truenicks, but both times got the response: "Sorry, we are only accepting stakes winning mares." So I went to Powerscourt and Action this Day instead.

Have you tried this year? They're accepting mares of all kinds after a rough year for Arch.

A mare that was rejected last year was praised as a great mate for him this year. A lot can change in one breeding season.
