Free horse management Software

Postby radrider » Tue Mar 10, 2009 6:18 pm

I was wondering if anyone had heard of this site
www.rendaivu.com
It's free online horse management software - thought it would be of interest to those who have a lot of mares or racehorses to keep track of, you can make reports, put in pedigrees, keep mare's reproductive history, all sorts of different things. Just FYI!

I like the idea on the online email reminders, but what if you cant get online for whatever period of time, or your computer is down? Alot of software programs are also helpful for billing purposes each month.

On ebay they have a pedigree program for like $49.00 I was looking at, but I was wondering if it was pretty much the same thing as the nick programs out there...

I am a retired computer geek. As such, I would NEVER consider committing my important business data to an online service. My data are here, on my own server, which I can backup and maintain, and will not go poof on me (vanish). What if the online deal closes down? It's probably free because you will be bombarded with popup ads everytime you go to print a payroll check - if it has payroll.

I looked at it and you can back up the information that you make, plus there is no pop-up ads and the beauty of it is that you can access it anywhere. The downside of it is that most farms want a standard program like the TJCIS horse management program or Equimax ES. But it still seems like a legitimate application.

The information you enter, backed up, is going to be useless to you without the software programs to interpret the files. But it's your data - do what you like with it.

I need a blank pedigree database also. My project is to take all horses who have been in the top ten in recognized eventing competitions, enter their breeding, whether TB or not, and then be able to pull up the ancestors who appear multiple times in multiple horses.

Any suggestions for what software will allow me to do that?
