One confirmed in foal - one to go

Cunningly is in foal on one cover to Killenaule! Crossing fingers to see if next January I'll get this foal delivered.

Now... waiting to see if Seaven Teares took to Hap. She's a day behind Cunningly.

Next January should be interesting!

Congrats! Getting the first couple I bred back is always a great feeling. Did your second get in foal yet?

My mare, Officer Cherrie, was covered by Tiznow on the 8th. I find the waiting until the preg check tougher than waiting for the foal once it is confirmed.

the second one is my maiden, the Aljabr filly Seaven Teares. She had a really long heat cycle and so far hasn't been checking in foal. The farm is going to ultra sound her again and if she isn't in foal, short cycle her and try once more. We're still in good shape for an early foal ... crossing fingers.

The "really long heat cycle" might have been her transition - those usually are not productive. The next one oughtta get her. Short cycling is tough on the mare.

I really think the Indiana weather screws with the mares. springboro.... you might want to count your blessings. Think about what the weather was like here this year at the time she would be due next year. Do you REALLY want to foal out in that? I totally understand why so many Indiana people go to Florida in the winter...

We find out tomorrow if the Dodge's Snow Bird mare is in foal. She had her very long cycle in early February which appeared to be her transitional cycle so we are crossing our fingers she has caught to Guaranteed Gold and then she'll ship home to Scotland around June-ish when she has passed the 60 day mark, has gone through quarantine and we can find a flight home for her ...

And still waiting for the Rock Hard Georgie mare to start noticeably cycling so we can get her bred and everyone else we need to wait until they foal out to start the re-breed countdown with them ...

Dodge's Snow Bird was confirmed in foal this morning to Guaranteed Gold, so the breeding season has started off well for us this year ...

If all goes well, she will be on her way to Scotland in June along with the 2008 Nightlight filly

The hormone shot given causes some pretty major discomfort and cramping. I've been on watch with a mare being short cycled and had to stay with her through twelve hours of heavy sweating, colicky symptoms, and general discomfort, to keep her from rolling, etc. In the end, the mare endured all that just to have a breedable follicle maybe five days sooner.
