Look at Winning colors, I can go on, however just because you breed the best to the best wont necessarily make it the best. oddly enough we have had winners come from Mares that werent the best.
Genuine Risk isn't really a relevant point. She only had two live foals.

Look at Nellie Morse Preakness winner she made one Black type winner. and look at the rest of her prodgeny.
She produced two blacktype winners, one of them a Champion, out of four foals to race, all of which won. That's not bad at all. Her daughter, the aforementioned Champion Nellie Flag, is a Reine.

Look at Regret---
You can do alot of research on this, instead of blowing this off just because one horse had trouble.. Doesnt mean that shes going to produce the best.
I'm not blowing off anything. I was saying that Genuine Risk was a poor example simply because she always had so much trouble getting into foal. I wouldn't have cited her. Winning Colors, sure. Sorry if you thought otherwise.

A lot of them have been given steroids over the years, unfortunately, the great ones and the not so great, and probably even those mares that didn't get to the track, so having been given steroids is probably not part of the equation of why some of the really great racemares haven't produced great offspring.

i dont' think it's that.
I think that alot of breeders who breed say, a filly like lotta kim or a mining my own or a dear berdie, etc, are different form the ones who are breeding a lady's secret, etc.
I thinkt he first set of breeders, have to do more research and put more work into a breeding and it usually pays off. whereas you get a say, Winning Colors, you just look at the top of the sire list and send her to whoever is number 1, while it may not necessarily be the best option for you.
I think phipps proved that high class mares ca produce high class offspring if you just put some effort into the breeding.
