Blue Eyed Streaker sale scam

Postby framed » Thu May 21, 2009 8:18 pm

Okay everyone, I need your thoughts on this one. I was recently informed that our stallion Blue Eyed Streaker is listed for sale on Horseville.com and Horsetopia. The person is using text from my website and photos taken by Barb Livingston that are copyrighted, also from my website and another stallion ad. I contacted Horseville, and I also posted a duplicate ad with the same photos telling people it was a scam. I guess I shouldn't worry about it, but I just can't help getting really frustrated with the entire situation, and don't want to let anyone get taken advantage of. I also don't want to have to keep paying for duplicate ads to let people know it's a fake. The Horsetopia link is listed below, and I have a contact phone number for the person, as a friend of mine replied to them and requested it. The same ad runs on Horseville, and who knows where else. Any thoughts on how I can do something about this???
Thanks for any help.

You know that is strange, someone just asked me the other day if I have RED WHITE N GOLD up for sale, and I told them absolutely not. I wonder if the same freak is doing this to several colored breeders because they have no other life outside being a freak?! I can't understand what they would have to gain by it, how stupid! I'd give them a good cussing, then report them to all the classified webmaster's and tell them to STOP what this person is doing, and watch out for it even with other breeds. I know I have had my mares photos used in ads for other horses before, that is pure fraud, and they need called on it!

...a couple of people forwarded their correspondances with the individual. The say the horse is for sale for a $2000 adoption, a long story about being relocated, and they want $1000 to ship the horse, and the rest to be payable after you receive him. I checked the phone number on the ad and it's in Albany, Oregon. My friend contacted them and asked for a good number to reach them, and they were given a different phone number with a 313 area code. Kansas maybe??? Anyway, I guess I'll try to do something about it, but hate to have to keep posting ads on these sites at my expense. Now I've got people emailing me to see if her really is for sale. It's such a strange thing.....

I think some people are also out to try and ruin business for other people/breeders. If they would just realize if they stepped up their own breeding program a bit, they wouldn't have to spread rumors and post fake ads all over the internet about others. Some folks just don't get it. :?

One more thing, the webmaster's are usually only too happy to remove the false ads once you prove to them the horse is yours, like by showing your website to them. They will also ban them from listing with them again. Have had to do that. Good luck.

Anyone dumb enough to swallow the story about the horse owner who has moved to the UAE and just wants a "good home in the state" for him deserves to be parted from his money.

That ad for the black TB stallion "Jack" (possibly Yellow Creek) looked pretty fishy too. Does anyone know someone at Parklane who might like to check it out?

Could this be a kid doing a fantasy thing with Breyers?

Even a kid knows you don't sell breyers on horsetopia for $3,500 with someone else's pictures. Not that they might not try it! I've found that these are usually grown up people trying to yank your chain and/or separate someone from their money.

Here's a copy of the responses they send when you inquire. I had someone phone me today about another matter, and when I mentioned it to her, she told me that her friend owns the Fresian Stallion that this scammer has listed for sale on Horseville as well. Strange. Most peopls will surely know it's a scam, but I still find it very annoying that they are doing this with my photos and text. Oh well. I'm sure worse things could happen. Thanks for all your opinions. Greatly appreciated. The photos didn't come through in the email when I pasted it here.....

Subject: Horseville - Exotic Thoroughbred Stallion

Hello Thank you for the interest in our horse .Ambe as we called him
is very active and socialize with each and every one he meets,He has
regular vet and ferrier care: up to date on shots, regular worming
schedule, and oral care. He is a gentleman for the ferrier. He loads,
clips, bathes, ground ties for grooming, single ties, cross ties, and
absolutely adores being groomed.I am located in Sacramento,CA but i
just had a new job in London,UK and this job is going to take much of
my time so my wife and i decided to give Champ out to a loving home
that will love and take care of him and before he moves into any new
home , we will like to give you more information about him before
taking into your home. Ambe has an Exotic Dual Registered Frame &
Sabino Overo Thoroughbred Stallion( American Jockey Club/ American
Paint Horses Assoc.).
We are adopting him at an adoption fee of $2000usd including the
shipping cost, transfer of ownership, documents. All you will have to do is to pay
$1000usd so as to enable the shipping and other paper works and then
when the horse
is shipped and delivered over to you,you will then have the remaining
amount send over to me.

Waiting to read from you soonest.

Latina Erina

Looks like a variation on a Nigerian scam. I would be interested to know what address the first thousand dollars was supposed to be sent to.

Since it is clearly a scam.

1. Contact the ISP of the Horse ad. They should pull the adds from this scammer right away,

2. Contact gmail, and let them know that they are hosting a scammer.

3. Contact the police in your area, and in the area where the scammer is supposed to live.

You might have to contact the internet fraud folks at the state or federal level.

Good luck.
