It's such a sad situation and the news, after at first looking hopeful, just keeps getting worse and worse.

Damn...we've seen so many races where jocks go down and they bounce up that they seem almost indestructible. Then reality slaps us upside the head and across the face.

Here's hoping for some better news in the days to come.

I unfortunatly watched this race, the horse (whos ok) rolled completely over poor Rene and was still on him when paramedics arrived. I read he had some feeling in his legs at one hospital. So hopefully when the swelling subsides he can regain feeling. With all the advances they are making in this medically I hope and pray he will be ok.

It's pretty shocking to watch. I really hope he's going to regain feeling. I'm sure even if he does, his riding career is over. I just don't see how that couldn't be the case. The Arlington Matron is on Youtube but I can understand if not everyone wants to look. The announcer didn't seem to see it because he was trying to look at the clock for the splits and when he looked back it was at the leaders.

Prayers for Rene and for his family. Such a talent and a great competitor.

Frank Lyons, on TVG, says one possible hope is stem cell therapy and there are some positive possibilities

God be with him

Ugh what happened to her? I know she was knocked out cold from the fall but I read the preliminay check showed no fractures.

Born to Be, who shipped in from Woodbine for trainer Eric Coatrieux, was badly injured and had to be euthanized, according to Arlington officials Sunday

I've heard of the way they treat this sort of injury and it makes a lot more sense that they don't know how it's going to turn out yet. The feeling he had earlier is certainly something to hold on to as a positive. Get well soon Rene!
