K Lynn runs tomorrow
One of my partnership fillies (I own 10% pay no bills and have no say) is in the 7th at Indiana Downs at "her" distance - a mile & 70 yds - and hasn't hooked a tiger, she looks pretty good.

Yes. Before the slots passed in Indiana, things were Quite Dismal there on the racing scene and Indiana breds were often given away provided the new owner would attempt to race the horse. K Lynn is one of two IN-bred fillies I took in trade for a stallion I had at that time.

She is a big filly with some action to her - and she broke her maiden there, at Indiana Downs. I think she will be fine if she gets a good ride and can save ground on the turn. She has NO early speed in her but has a decent closing kick that shows up somewhere 5-7 furlongs out, which is why she shows at 6f, but in my opinion really needs a mile or a bit more.

Hook a tiger.. hook a monster - means none of the entries in the race look like they could run away with it or that it's pretty hopeless. There is a field of 7. This is a restricted allowance race, for Indiana-bred fillies 3 years old and up, who have not won three races in their lifetime. A tiger, or a monster, would be an entry that has won two races out of a very small number of starts, or won its last two in a row. For example, if there was a filly in this field who got 2nd in her first start, then broke her maiden, then won her non winners of two lifetime - that would be a tiger. Or a bear. Or a monster - the term varies but it always means the same thing.

Thanks for explanation...you would appreciate that in my habitat here..10,000 km away...that is pretty creative term...subtle too.

At lower level racing..one can always time the horse to race for a win right..after all it is taken care by the handicap.
What the min carry weight ? We got 48 kg when a 2yo races amongst the 3yo with an apprentice rider in the iron.
