Is she not the most under the radar trainer out there? simply the best. and more times than not gets her best stock taken away, one way or another.....remarkable woman. :wink:

its a mans game......sad but true .

...dont decieve yourself.....there are far and few top female trainers of recognition.....THATS NOT TO SAY THEY DONT HAVE THE ABILITY...many do.....its just the bias of the game and the media....AND WE ALL KNOW THE MEDIA SUCKS. i for one would employe her as a trainer...she has the goods to do the job on a national level......she has developed numerous big horses only to have them sold out from under her........but thats the nature of this game ....you must take a profit when ever possible or you wont be around long ...or you will be broke for as long as you stay around. :lol:

That is a good point, she is an excellent trainer & no you don't hear enough about her at all. There was a really nice article in "Keeneland" magazine on women trainers in racing a few years back i think and Helen was one of the trainers featured.

In Canada i feel its a little different. I think Catherine Day Philips, Josie Carroll & other successful women trainers are viewed as equal to the men based on successes NOT gender.

I am wondering if the southern states are a little more backward that way as opposed to say NY? Thoughts on that?

Hellen Pitts & Josie Carroll are GR 1 Stake Fillies, i met both of them at Santa Anita, they both pay atention to detail to train their tbs to the max.

I think Europe and Austrailia both have the same kind of regard as Canada concerning women trainers. They seem to have much more respect for their abilities to train.

R.R. as far as Helen Pitt's i am not basing what i know, on what is in the news, i lived with a trainer for almost a decade who raced in Canada, Florda, KY and sometimes Chicago. You do get to know who are decent and why, its a matter of personal opinion and i don't feel i have to list things here on the site but, i do like her style of training as i know it. I also like Josie Carroll a lot i know she does everything for her horses.. these are people i am addressing as trainers that i like based on training style not necessarily on personality.

RR after re reading your post a few x the only conclusion i can come to is someone must have pee'd in your cornflakes yesterday a.m. lol

Anyone i like as a trainer is meticulous, detail oriented and puts the horses FIRST & foremost .. hope that is enough info for you... lol

But it wasn't clear me anyway if it was you speaking from first hand knowledge or from reading some articles about her. I don't know her at all but she certainly seems like a good trainer. But then I don't know her at all

There are a few on the left coast though who get mountains of press about how wonderful they are that in turn gets picked up on every forum out there and whipped up until these people are in line to be canonized and some racetrackers just have to hold their tongues (and fingers). I'm not saying Helen Pitts is in that category but its just an example. What's that old saying about how hard it is to be hero to your tailor (or something like that).

I hope she lives up to her press clippings.

Lol, to that and the taylor. Westover i'm old enough that grouchiness is a general state of being. the original post irritated me for reasons having little to do with Helen Pitts. should have stifled it, The post is edited, and agreed, let's give credit to Helen Pitts for Einstein, and also what she did with Curlin!

Now if you wanted to talk about Canadian trainers of both sex's then i have lots of thoughts on specifics on those.. good vs. bad and why...

My favorites that i know first hand what the experience for a horse would be in their barn.. David Bell & probably i wwould have to say Brian Lynch ... Josie Carroll as i mentioned earlier but the above two gender aside i love!! Well not literally...lol
