Paint Tobiano

Postby Derby Lyn » Mon Jun 22, 2009 1:28 pm

This filly is not a thoroughbred, but I thought I would ask here b/c there seems to be a lot of color knowledge here. This filly is out of a solid chestnut AQHA mare, maybe a rabicano...she has some white hairs in her tail and her flanks. The stallion is a bay homozygous for tobiano stallion. And I get a tovero? Is that what her pattern is? I was expecting something totally different. [img]

Looks tovero to me. Most likely a combination of tobiano, splash, and sabino, with the possibility of frame.

Whos the stallion?

ETA:Im going to assume after looking at your website its your stallion Way Too Tricky? Has he been tested for OLW?

And has the mare? There are a few lines in QH that are LWO positive, not counting the ones that have been brought back in since the rule change.

Neither of them has been tested. Just the stallion for being homozygous tobiano. And yes it is Way Too Tricky. I was really expecting something more like him. I am assuming the mare must carry the OLW.

She doesn't have to. IT could be the stallion.

Its also possible neither of them have OLW. Tobiano, sabino, and splash could do this without frame.

we have similar toveros bred here, as we have sabino in horses with the tobiano as well and it does create some wild patterns. great looking foal well done are you pleased?she lovely well done.

I am always pleased as long as they are healthy. She is not what I expected but I am happy with her. She is bred for racing, so we will see where she goes. I sold the mare but the deal was the foal is being returned to me.
