Just saw that Candy Ride is being moved to Lanes End - anyone know the inside scoop?

Just that apparently they did not know until they got a letter from an attorney and a van pulled up to take him away.

You can click here   Candy Ride Relocated To Lanes End to connect to the Blood-Horse article.

If quoted accurately, John Sikura seemed to have his composure under control...but clearly (to me anyway) he was extremely displeased (if not disgusted) with not only the news, but also the manner in which he was notified ("...by lawyer's letter") that the stallion Candy Ride plus 40 mares and foals were being moved.

Certainly there's more to the story than has been disseminated for public consumption thus far.

Hmmm...does that mean we're in store for some name-calling  and/or fingerpointing  ?

Respectfully

It is for Lane's End anyway. I doubt it makes Sikura any happier.

And Evita Argentina took the 'A Gleam' on the same card. Does anyone know what motivated the move??

As for Hil N Dale - they are awful proud....

I enquired last week about our stakes winning mare (250k) to a stallion of theirs. They claimed she would be in the lower 25% of his book - and let me tell you - the stallion in quesition isn't very royally bred. That ran me off pretty good - really didn't seem to need the business.

As for the situation - maybe its their presentation that the syndicate owners disliked.

Lane's End is considered a "Gold Standard" breeding operation. Maybe it's as simple as the syndicate thought Candy Ride would get the best book of mares and maximize earnings at Lane's End.

There's an article on the TT that said something to the effect of 'we do not want him covering 181 mares in a year' and they want it to be between 100-125.

He was moved for the exact reason that was stated in the article on the thoroughbred times. What is not in there but has been mentioned in this thread is that they do feel he will have a shot at better mares.
