Postby karenkarenn » Wed Jul 22, 2009 3:30 pm

Holly Cow!
I was watching the Third race today because on of my horses that is on my watch list has the Bertrando, Dept Minister combo like my Jeanie well, I saw Raphael Beranjo go do hard. His horse was euthanized and I remember that there was a horse working out that was euthanized as well. I saw the running horse just broke down, there wasnt a bump or a push Whats happening at Del Mar??

The horse, Mi Rey, making his 37th start, had won a 10 claimer on 3-5-09 then a 16 claimer on 4-3-09. He subsequently ran unplaced, 3rd and unplaced in his next 3 starts. Hadn't raced since 6-13-09 and worked a half in 49 and change on 7-15-09. One half mile work from 6-13-09 to 7-15-09 or 32 days. According to the Bloodhorse Mi Rey heels were clipped by another horse and fell after taking a bad step. The race has been made unavailable at CalRacing.com.

I believe that last year, there was a rash of incidents in the first week, but by the end of the meet, catastrophic injuries were way down for the entire meet for polytrack vs. dirt on Del Mar. Let's hope the same pattern develops this year. I was so sorry to see a fatality in the third race on the first day.

Was at the track tonight and there was another fatal injury right in front of the finish line. So sad. It was the one horse in the 7th race. So far, this makes three horses that have been euthanized since Sunday. I don't know what is going on. I wish they would figure this shit out!!!!

So sad. I'll be going to play the horses tonight. I hope all is well. I can't stand anymore of this!

Hey Foggy
I tried to explain that to several others a while ago and they dont listen. These Del Mar incidents just dont help, they really dont.
